Preliminary Activities

Motivation:  Checking of attendance

Good morning class Good morning ma’am, good

morning classmates.

Please take your seat Thank you, ma’am,

ELICIT Last meeting, we discussed about light.

So, what is light? Light is an energy found in our

surroundings
Correct!

What about the two different sources of light? Natural and man made

Good!

So we have luminous and non-luminous object, what Luminous objects emit light, while
do you think is the different between them? non luminous object does not.

Can you give me an example of a luminous light? Sun, flashlight, matches

What about non -luminous object? Water, rock, soil, moon

Very good!

Let the student perform the activity

Directions: From your previous lesson in module 1,

try to recall the following parts of a wave. On a 1.The parts of the wave are Crest,
separate sheet of paper, draw similar diagram in trough, wavelength, and amplitude.
Figure 1 and identify the labelled parts of the wave. 2. Crest
3.Trough
4.Wavelength

Q1. What are the parts of the wave?

Q2. What is the highest peak of the wave called?
Q3. How does you call the lowest part of the wave?
Q4. What do you call the part between two highest
and lowest points of the wave?
ENGAGE
Light dispersion- the spreading out of the
beam of light called dispersionor chromatic
dispersion. This can be seen when sunlight or
white light passess through a medium glass
called prism. For example rainbow

In rainbow, the water droplets becomes the

prism and when the sunlight passess through
it, the light disperse into 7 different colors
know as ROYGIBIV

Different colors means different wavelength

that carries different energy and speed
The wider the wavelength the lesser the
frequency and energy on the othr hand, the
narrower the wavelength the greater the
frequency and energy. Red has lesser energy
energy than violet.

Why do ebjects have color?

When all light was absorbed in an object the
color appeared is black, while when an
object is white all light is reflrcted.
EXPLORE Group the students by pair and le them perform the activity

Directions: Study further about light and its characteristics. What are the
primary colors of light? Is it possible to mix different colors of light to create
another color? Perform the activity given and answer the table and questions
on a separate sheet of paper

Activity 3: Amazing colors Materials needed:

 Different colors of Plastic filter (Green, Blue, Red)
 Three flashlights (same kind and sizes)
 Rubber bands
 White board/bond paper
Procedures:
1. Cover each lens of the three flashlights with different colors of plastic
filter or colored cellophanes; Blue, Green, and Red color.
2. Try to explore the colors of light. Shine these flashlights covered by
different colors of plastic filter on the white board or bond paper and note the
projected color.

3. Ask two persons to hold the two other flashlights while you are holding
one of it.
4. Let two color lights from the flashlights overlap.
Follow the color combination in the Table 4.

Guide Question
1. Describe the resulting colors of light mixed in Table 4
2. What color is projected on white or bond paper by each flashlight covered
in blue, red, and green plastic filter different colors of plastic filter?
3. What happens when you mix two or three primary colors of light?
EXPLAIN
Let the student explain their answer

ELABORATE
things to remember in learning about
light and its waves white light is made
up of many different colors of varying
wavelength and frequencies when white light
enters a prism and travels slower
than in a vacuum polar separation is
observed due to the vibration in the
frequencies and wavelength of colors of
light.

the visible light colors red has the

longest wavelength always remember this
red has the weight then longest wavelength

objects appear in different colors

because they absorb the light waves of
specific wavelength while reflecting
or transmitting other colors the color
of the object
we see are the wavelengths that are
reflected or transmitted to our eyes
so a red apple appears because it
reflects the red
colored light
