PROGRAM SUMMARY
UID is currently implementing the third year of BEKAL Pemimpin Program, a program for Indonesia’s
emerging leaders in the environmental sector. Completing the second batch at December 2021, the
program funded by David and Lucille Packard Foundation aims to achieve the following objectives:
1. To grow cross-sector collective leadership with an awareness for whole-system change and
sustainable development;
2. To cultivate an active support system for these emerging leaders consisting of peer network,
mentor network, as well as access to funding and other resources and opportunities;
3. To accelerate alumni impact in innovating collaborative platforms, institutional models, wealth
creation models, and policy decision making process that will ultimately shift the system towards
equitable and sustainable natural capital management.
The program’s second Batch has been finalized in December 2021 and participated by emerging
leaders from 22 provinces in Indonesia with working experience around 5 – 10 years in the
environmental and sustainability issues from government, NGOs and business sectors; for a learning
journey consisting of combined in- class workshops, sensing (site visits), as well as individual and
collective learning activities.
The program continues its journey to the next cohort that will be conducted in May 2023 to October
and divided into 5 (five) workshops, including: Foundation Workshop, Sensing Journey, Deep Dive
Workshop, Prototyping Workshop, Final Workshop and Graduation. The third cohort will be
participated by cross sectors emerging leaders representing all provinces in Indonesia. In addition to
delivering workshop for the next cohort, BEKAL Pemimpin program will continue providing the alumni
support and disseminating their systemic leadership progress. Communication is an important
component of the program since it supports knowledge management activities by providing
communication materials to internal alumni and the public.
GENERAL SUMMARY:
The main role of Mini-Research Intern is to support the Communication and Outreach deliveries. In
particular, the intern will responsible to assist Communication Lead in conducting mini-research and
producing updated Alumni Prototypes Profile. In performing your role, Intern will be working closely
with and under supervision of Communication Lead and Alumni Lead. Intern will be reporting to the
Program Manager after having approval from Communication Lead and Alumni Lead. Mini-Research
Intern will also work with other BEKAL Pemimpin team, UID Lead Faculty and Director of Learning.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The role of the intern is to provide updated BEKAL Pemimpin Alumni Prototype Profile, including but
not limited to:
1. Compile data, stories, reports of BEKAL Pemimpin Alumni cohort 1 and 2 prototypes.
2. Develop shareable, high quality, and updated Alumni Prototypes Profile consisting of: alumni
profile, prototypes goals and progress, current status, follow up plans, iceberg framework,
transformation stories and other emerging issues.
3. Develop research and writing plans consisting of: timeline, topics, and outline of the profile to
be produced.
4. Collect information for writing materials, conduct interview, stories editing, etc.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
None
WORKS WITH:
BEKAL Pemimpin program team, UID Faculty team
WORKING ARRANGEMENT:
Intern will work hybrid - online and should be available for in person meetings with other UID Program
Team when necessary. Intern is also welcome to work at UID office to work closely with program team
during the internship period.
BENEFIT:
During the term of this contract, Intern will receive a net monthly allowance of Rp2,000,000.00 to
support the work.
