So many stars and everybody gets to shine
//The family ready’s for the day with the help from the house//

//Abuela emerging from her room//
[Mirabel](singing)
Woah (oh-oh-oh-oh), let’s be clear
Abuela runs this show
Woah (oh-oh-oh-oh), she leds us here
So many years ago
Woah, (oh-oh-oh-oh), and every year
Our family blessings grow!
There's just a lot you’ve simply got to know, so

Welcome to the Family Madrigal

The home of the Family Madrigal (We're on our way!)
Where all the people are fantastical and magical
I'm part of the Family Madrigal!
//Mirabel opens the door and leads the family out, waving goodbye to
the house//
//The Town kids watch them emerge, looking amazed//
//The kids crowd around Mirabel//
Town Kid 1: Oh my gosh, it’s them!
Town Kid 2: I can't remember all the gifts!
Town Kid 3: Who’s who?
Mirabel: alright, alright, relax
Town Kid 2: It is physically impossible to relax!
Town Kid 3: Tell us everything! What are your powers?
Town Kid 1: Just tell us what everyone can do!Mirabel: And that's
why coffee’s for grown ups
//Mirabel takes town kid 1’s coffee cup and steps up to the family

[Mirabel](singing)
My Tiya Pepa
Her mood affects the weather
When she’s unhappy
Well, the temperature gets weird
//Pepa being happy while the sun cames out. She trips off and gets
pissed, the weather changes and it rains//
[Mirabel](singing)
My Tio Bruno (Crowd: We don’t talk about bruno!)
They say he saw the future, one day he disappeared
//Julieta healing peoples with her homemade buñuelos//
[Mirabel]
Oh (Oh-oh-oh-oh), and that's my mom Julieta, here's her deal
Whoa! (Oh-oh-oh-oh), the truth is, she can heal you with a meal
Whoa! (Oh-oh-oh-oh), her recipes are remedies for real
If you're impressed, imagine how I feel—
//Julieta kissed Mirabel on the cheeks//
Mirabel: MOM?!
//Mirabel heads out the town//
[Mirabel](singing)
Welcome to the Family Madrigal!
The home of the Family Madrigal! (Hey, coming through!)
I know it sounds a bit fantastical and magical
But I'm part of the Family Madrigal!
//Mirabel points out her dad, Agustin, and Tiyo Felix//
[Mirabel]
Two guys fell in love with Family Madrigal
Agustin and Felix: (With Family Madrigal!)
[Mirabel]
And now they're part of the Family Madrigal
So, yeah, Tío Félix married Pepa and my dad married Julieta
That's how Abuela became an Abuela Madrigal! (Let's go, let's go!)
//Abuela Alma steps out, helping the town//
[Abuela]
We swear to always help those around us
And earn the miracle that somehow found us
//Abuela gives out boxes//

[Abuela]
The town keeps growing, the world keeps turning
But work and dedication will keep the miracle burning
And each new generation must keep the miracle burning
//Mirabel and the kids walking into the main plaza//
Kid 1: Who’s a sister? Who’s a cousin?
Kid 2: There’s so many people!
Kid 3: How do you keep them all straight?
Mirabel: Okay, okay, okay, okay
[Mirabel]
So many kids in our house, so let’s turn the sound up!
You know why? I think it's time for a GRANDKID ROUND-UP
Mirabel/The 3 kids: GRANDKID ROUND-UP
//Mirabel drops a pin//
[Mirabel]
Cousin Dolores can hear a pin drop //Dolores appears, her hand on
the ears//
[Mirabel]
Camilo shape-shifts //Camilo shape-shifts//
Antonio gets his gifts today //Antonio showed up//
We see Isabela //Isabela swinging// and
Luisa //Luisa flexing her muscles//
[Mirabel]
My older sisters, Isabela and Luisa
One strong, one graceful
Perfect in every way!
Town people: Isabela!
[Mirabel]
Grows a flower, the town goes wild
She’s the perfect golden child

//Flowers scattered, Mariano showed up catching some of the

flowers//
//Luisa carrying a bridge//
Town people: Luisa! Luisa! Luisa! Luisa!
[Mirabel]
And Luisa’s super strong
The beauty and the brawn do no wrooong!
Abuela Alma: Family, let’s get ready
Luisa: Coming, Abuela!
//Bells ringing, the Madrigal family heading back home//
[Mirabel]
That’s life in the Family Madrigal
Now you know the family Madrigal
Where all the people are fantastical and magical
That’s who we are in the family… Madrigal!
Adios!
//Mirabel says salutes to the kids, turns and tried to heads home//
Kid 2: What’s your gift?
[Mirabel]
Ha! Well I gotta go
The life of a Madrigal! (oh-oh-oh-oh)
But you all know the Family Madrigal! (oh-oh-oh-oh)
But I never meant this to be autobiographical (oh-oh-oh-oh)
So let’s just review the Family Madrigal
Let’s go
Kid 1: But what about Mirabel?
[Mirabel]
It starts with Abuela, and then Tia Pepa, she handles the weather
Kid 2: But what about Mirabel?
[Mirabel]
My mom Julieta, can make you feel better with just one arepa
Kid 3: But what about Mirabel?

[Mirabel]
My dad Agustin, well, he's accident prone but he means well
Kid 1: But what about Mirabel?
[Mirabel]
Hey, you said you wanna know what everyone does, I got sisters and
cousins and…
Kid 2: Mirabel!
[Mirabel]
My Primo Camilo, won’t stop until he makes you smile today!
Kid 3: Mirabel!
[Mirabel]
My cousin Dolores, can hear the whole chorus a mile away
//Dolores far from the mountain, swaying while her hand is on her
ear//
[Mirabel]
Look, it’s Mister Mariano, hey you can marry my sister if you wanna
But between you and me, she’s kind of a prima donna
Yo, I’ve said too much and thank you but,
I really gotta go!
My Family’s Amazing!
Town kids: Mirabel!
[Mirabel]
And I’m in my family, so
Town kids: Mirabel!
[Mirabel]
Well…
Abuela Alma: Mirabel!

Act 2 – We Don’t Talk About Bruno

FÉLIX: Ey, she needs to know, Pepi. She
needs to know.
PEPA: We don’t talk about Bruno.

FÉLIX: He would see something terrible,

and then crack-ba-boom, it would
happen.
PEPA: We don’t talk about Bruno.
MIRABEL: What if you didn’t understand what
he saw?
FÉLIX: Then you better figure it out,
because it was coming for you!
MUSIC KICKS IN
[Pepa:]
We don't talk about Bruno, no, no, no
We don't talk about Bruno, but
It was my wedding day
[Félix:]
It was our wedding day
[Pepa:]
We were getting ready
And there wasn't a cloud in the sky
[Félix:]
No clouds allowed in the sky
[Pepa:]
Bruno walks in with a mischievous grin
[Félix:]
Thunder
[Pepa:]
You're telling the story or am I?
[Félix:]
I'm sorry, mi vida, go on
[Pepa:]
Bruno says, "It looks like rain"
[Félix:]
Why did he tell us?

[Pepa:]
In doing so, he floods my brain
[Félix:]
Abuela get the umbrellas
[Pepa:]
Married in a hurricane
[Félix:]
What a joyous day but anyway
[Pepa & Félix:]
We don't talk about Bruno, no, no, no
We don't talk about Bruno
[Dolores:]
Hey, grew to live in fear of Bruno stuttering or stumbling
I can always hear him sort of muttering and mumbling
I associate him with the sound of falling sand, ch-ch-ch
It's a heavy lift with a gift so humbling
Always left Abuela and the family fumbling
Grappling with prophecies they couldn't understand
Do you understand?
[Camilo:]
Seven-foot frame, rats along his back
When he calls your name it all fades to black
Yeah, he sees your dreams and feasts on your screams (Hey)
[Pepa & Camilo:]
We don't talk about Bruno, no, no, no
[Dolores:]
No, no
[Pepa & Camilo:]
We don't talk about Bruno
[Dolores:]
We don't talk about Bruno

[Townsperson 1:]
He told me my fish would die, the next day, dead
[Ensemble:]
No, no
[Townsperson 2:]
He told me I'd grow a gut and just like he said
[Ensemble:]
No, no
[Townsperson 3:]
He said that all my hair would disappear, now, look at my head
[Ensemble:]
Hey!
No, no
Your fate is sealed when your prophecy is read
[Isabela:]
He told me that the life of my dreams
Would be promised, and someday be mine
He told me that my power would grow
Like the grapes that thrive on the vine
[Abuela Alma:]
Óye, Mariano's on his way
[Dolores:]
He told me that the man of my dreams
Would be just out of reach
Betrothed to another
It's like I hear him, now
[Isabela:]
Hey sis, I want not a sound out of you
[Dolores:]
It's like I can hear him now, I can hear him now

[Mirabel:]
Um, Bruno
Yeah, about that Bruno
I really need to know about Bruno
Give me the truth and the whole truth, Bruno
[Camilo:]
Isabela, your boyfriend's here
[Abuela Alma & Isabela:]
Time for dinner
//Repeating the verses of the family Madrigal//

[Ensemble:]
He's here
Don't talk about Bruno
[Mirabel:]
Why did I talk about Bruno?
[Ensemble:]
Not a word about Bruno
[Mirabel:]
I never should have brought up Bruno

Act 3 – All of You

Mirabel: It’s okay, everything’s -- we’re
gonna save the miracle - the magic -
ABUELA ALMA: What are you talking about? Look at
our home. Look at your sister!
MIRABEL: Please, just - Isabela wasn’t happy
and -
ABUELA ALMA: Of course she isn’t happy, you
ruined her proposal --
MIRABEL: -- no, no she needed me to ruin her
proposal and then we did all of
this and the candle burned brighter
and the cracks --
ABUELA ALMA: -- Mirabel --
MIRABEL: That’s why I’m in the vision, I’m
saving the miracle!
ABUELA ALMA: You have to stop, Mirabel!
MUSIC KICKS IN
[Mirabel:]
Look at this home
We need a new foundation
It may seem hopeless but we'll get by just fine
Look at this family, a glowing constellation
So full of stars and everybody wants to shine
But the stars don't shine, they burn
And the constellations shift
I think it's time you learn
You're more than just your gift
[Abuela Alma:]
And I'm sorry I held on too tight
Just so afraid I'd lose you too
The miracle is not some magic that you've got
The miracle is you, not some gift, just you
The miracle is you
All of you, all of you
[Camilo (Antonio):] (being Confused)
Okay, so we gonna talk about Bruno? (That's Bruno)
[Bruno:] (being jolly)
Yeah, there's a lot to say about Bruno
I'll start, okay
Pepa, I'm sorry 'bout your wedding, didn't mean to be upsetting
That wasn't a prophecy, I could just see you were sweating
And I wanted you to know that your bro loves you so
Let it in, let it out, let it rain, let it snow, let it go
That's what I'm always saying, bro
Got a lotta 'pologies I got to say
[Pepa and Julieta:]
Hey, we're just happy that you're here, okay?
Uh...
But...
Come into the light, the triplets all reunite
And no matter what happens we're gonna find our way
[Dolores:]
Yo, I knew he never left, I heard him every day
[Abuela (Townspeople):]
(Oh, oh, oh, oh) What's that sound?
[Antonio (Townspeople):]
(Oh, oh) I think it's everyone in town
[Townspeople:]
Hey!
Lay down your load (Lay down your load)
We are only down the road (We are only down the road)
We have no gifts, but we are many
And we'll do anything for you
[Isabela (Ensemble):]
It's a dream when we work as a team (All of you, all of you)
You're so strong
[Luisa (Townspeople) {Mirabel}:]
Yeah, but sometimes I cry (All of you, all of you)
{So do I}
I may not be as strong but I'm getting wiser
[Isabela:]
Yeah, I need sunlight and fertilizer
C'mon, let's plant something new and watch it fly

[Isabela, Luisa, and Mirabel:]

Straight up to the sky, let's go
[Ensemble:]
The stars don't shine, they burn
The constellations glow
The seasons change in turn
[Julieta (Agustín):]
Would you watch our little girl go? (She takes after you)
[Mirabel (Mariano):]
Hey Mariano, why so blue?
(I just have so much love inside)
Y'know, I've got this cousin too
Have you met Dolores?
[Dolores:]
Okay, I'll take it from here, goodbye
You talk so loud
You take care of your mother and you make her proud
You write your own poetry every night when you go to sleep
And I'm seizing the moment, so would you wake up and notice me?
[Mariano (Dolores) {Ensemble}]
Dolores, I see you (And I hear you)
Yes
{All of you, all of you}
Let's get married (Slow down)
{All of you, all of you}
[Mirabel (Abuela Alma):]
Home sweet home
I like the new foundation
(It isn't perfect)
Neither are we (That's true)
(Just one more thing, before the celebration) What?
We need a doorknob

[Antonio:]
We made this one for you
[Ensemble (Bruno):]
We see how bright you burn
We see how brave you've been
Now, see yourself in turn
(You're the real gift, kid, let us in)
Open your eyes
Abre los ojos
What do you see?
[Mirabel:]
I see me
All of me
