7 E’S LESSON PLAN IN SCIENCE 7

I. OBJECTIVES

Content Standard: The learners re being expect to learn and differentiate the kinds of
ecological relationships.

Performance Standard: The learners should be able to employ appropriate techniques

using the compound microscope to gather data about very small objects.

Learning Competency: Learn about ecology and ecological relationships

1. Define Ecology
2. Identify the 5 ecological realtionships namely Mutualism, Commensalism,
Parasitism, Predation, Competition

II. CONTENT

A. References:
1. Curriculum Guide:
2. Teacher’s Guide:
3. Learner’s Material:
4. Textbook:
5. Additional resources from LR portal:

B. Other Learning Resources:

Powerpoint presentation, activity sheets, Manila paper, Projector, Markers

III. PROCEDURE

TEACHER’S ACTIVITY STUDENTS’ ACTIVITY

A. Preliminar Activities

1. Greetings
Good morning students. Good morning sir!

Can you greet your classmates Good morning! Good morning classmates!

2. Checking of Attendance

Is there any absent in the class?

Excellent! None maam.

First recall our classroom rules. Who can

Sit properly.
Give me the first rule? Be quiet.
Correct. What are the others? Listen attentively.
Participate.

B. Developmental Activities

1. Drill
Let's all together explore your imagination and knowledge in a game. The name of the
game is 4 pics one word. I will show you a set of 4 pictures then you will identify what word it is.

Etc.

What do you think is the word for this picture? (Student volunteer will answer to the board.)
Someone can volunteer ?
Good job!

PARASITISM

Lets analyze the first picture what do you Organism eating another organism
observed?
Organism harming other

A died grasshopper

Etc.

What do you think is the word for this picture? (Students volunteer will answer to the board)
Someone can volunteer ?
Good job!

C. ELICIT

I have pictures here of different organisms. I want you to tell me what are the major
indivual involved. It might be a animals, plant or other organisms. Then describe what kind of
relation or interaction they have.
Wild dogs/ Dogs and Deere
 They are fighting over the food
 Competing
 The two dogs are enemies

Crocodile and Fish

 The crocodile hunts/ate the fish
 The crocodile is the predator of fish

Buffalo and Bird

 They are not harming each other
 They are just coexisting

Flower and Bee

 The bee harvest the nectar
 The bee is not hurting/damaging the
flower
 The flower gets pollenated
 Both are gaining

Grasshopper and Worms

 The worms came out of the
grasshopper
 The grasshopper died
 The worms lives inside the grasshopper

D. Engage

 Introducing the main topic which is ECOLOGICAL RELATIONSHIPS

 Define Ecology
 Disscus main ideas on the different kind of ecological relationships

E. Explore

The students will do a activity where they will be devide into 5 groups, where each will receive
different kind of activities that they will going to present later.

Group 1
Instructions: Give me three examples of MUTUALISM relationship in our environment. You
have 5 minutes to complete the task.

Group 2
Instructions: Give me three examples of COMMENSALISM relationship in our environment. You
have 5 minutes to complete the task.

Group 3
Instructions: Give me three examples of PARASITISM relationship in our environment. You have
5 minutes to complete the task.

Group 4
Instructions: Give me three examples of PREDATION relationship in our environment. You have
5 minutes to complete the task.

Group 5
Instructions: Give me three examples of COMPETITION relationship in our environment. You
have 5 minutes to complete the task.

F. Explain

 Clarify the ideas that students introduce in the activity

G. Elaboration

 Ask students what they learned from the lesson

Provide a memory map that will help student to remember the lesson better.
 Let them ask questions to answered

We know that there are many organism living on this planet such animals, plants, bacteria and
us humans. All of us are coexist and interact this leads to formation of relations and now lets
talk about what is this different relationship.
Anyone can tell me what is ecological relationship?

Ecological Relationship - describe the interactions between and among organisms within their
environment. These interactions may have positive, negative, or neutral effects on either
organism's ability to survive and reproduce.

Now can we consider a fern in a tree as an example?

How about parasites in the stomach of human?
Ok, lets find out.

There are 5 ecological relationship found in nature:

1. Parasitism

Parasitism is generally defined as a relationship between the two living species in which one
organism is benefitted at the expense of the other.
2. Competition
when two or more organisms rely on the same environmental resource.
3. Predation
Behavior of one animal feeding on another.
4. Commensalism
A symbiotic relationship where one organism benefits and one does not benefit but is
unharmed.
5. Mutualism
A symbiotic relationship where both organisms benefit.

(Question and Answer portion)

H. Evaluate
Direction: Identify what kind of ecological relationship that the situation belong. Choose the
answers at the box below.

____2. Two brown bears fighting over a territory.
____3. Spider makes web to catch mosquitos.
____4. A moss growing in a tree branch.

Answers:

1. Parasitism
2. Competition
3. Predation
4. Commensalism
