METHODOLOGY

The research methodology that will be applied to this study is presented in this

chapter. It provides information about the step-by-step progression of the carried-out

research. This covers the research plan, the study's setting, the participants, the data

collection process, the research instrument, and the statistical software used.

Purpose of the Study and Research Design

The reason why the researchers have conducted this research is that the

researchers want to know the student’s reasons on why they engaged in cutting

classes. Many schools have the same kind of problem which students who cut class

is very rampant.

The researchers used a quantitative research design in assessing the effects

of cutting classes to the academic performance of students. The researchers will

gather and analyze the data using a survey questionnaire.

Research Locale and Participants

The researchers conducted this study at Grade 10 building in New Society

National Highschool on June 13,2023. The researchers chose this location since our

focus are the Grade 10 students.

The participants of this study are Grade 10 students, with a total sample of 30,

each ten respondents taken from three different section. The researchers picked a

student randomly as their respondents to assess their idea about the effects of

cutting classes to the academic performance of students. Thus, they serve as a

reliable source of information to be used for the completion of the study.


Research Instrument

In order to satisfy the purpose of this study a research-made questionnaire

was used. It has 10 items to be answered. The questionnaire is designed to know

the effects of cutting classes.

Data Gathering Procedure

The first step in the data gathering procedure is for the researchers to draft a

letter of permission to the principal of New Society National High School to conduct a

survey in their area. The next step is making the questionnaire so that they can verify

it to their research advisor if it is correct. After getting verification, they may proceed

to the next step. For data gathering, the questionnaires were distributed personally to

the 30 respondents among Grade 10 students and were then collected. The data

gathered were analyzed, interpreted, and tabulated.

Data Analysis

To determine the data for this study, the researchers used questionnaires to

assess the effects of cutting classes on the academic performance of students. To

determine how cutting classes can ruin a student’s grade and what the things were

that pushed them to skip their class, the researchers used profiling on the

respondents.
Ethical Considerations

Informed Consent: Prior to involving the Grade 10 students in the research,

informed consent should be obtained from the students, parents, teachers, and

guardians. They should be provided with clear and understandable information about

the purpose, procedures, potential risks, and benefits of the study. Respondents

should have the freedom to decline participation without facing any consequences or

pressure.

Confidentiality and Anonymity: To protect the privacy of the respondents, all

collected data, including personal information, academic records, and responses are

only for the researchers to see and no third party shall see or read the data analysis.

And the recorded data should be treated with strict confidentiality and only

accessible to authorized researchers. The data analysis should be conducted in a

way that ensures the anonymity of the respondents.

Health and Safety Protocols: This research study was sensitive to the health and
safety of anyone involved mental, emotional, and physical health of those involved
were considered in doing this research. Concepts in this study and statements in the
questionnaire were made sure to have no negative effect on those associated with
them.

Minimization of Harm: The research should take measures to minimize potential

harm or negative impacts on the participating students. This includes avoiding

intrusive or invasive procedures, ensuring that the research does not interfere with

their academic progress, and providing appropriate support or resources if any

adverse effects are.
