Q1. What does the poet say about flatterers?


Ans. The poet said that flatterers are those friend who stay with us in our good times and flatters these friends
desert or live us in times of need or difficulty.

Q2. What does the poet compare words with and what does he mean?
Ans. Words are compared to the wind and figure of speech used is smile. The poet said that the flatterers words
are very smooth and easy like that of the wind without any weight or obligation. These flatterers speak high
promising words but fail to fulfill them in the time of need.

Ans. According to the poet faithful and true friend are hard to find these friend do not live with us in our time
of need.

Ans. The poet said if we have much money to spend then everyone will become or try to become our friend.
But one’s this money is exhausted or gone these friend will desert (love) you. They will not in any way help you
with anything that you want.

Ans. A Prodigal is a person who spent money to freely.

Ans. People treat a Prodigal in a very high manner. They call him generous and flatter him with words wishing
that he were a king everyone tries to be friends with him in order to enjoy the benefits of his prodigal nature.

Q8. What happens when a Prodigal person losses his fortune?


Ans. If the fortune of Prodigal lose down then his flattering friend leave him for good. These friends who so
long tried to pleas him by flattery are no longer found near him the prodigal, great from and popularity to also
gone.

Q9. What are the qualities of a true friend according to the poet?
Ans. A true friend will always stay by us in our times of need. He will be sorrowful and cry if he see us sad. He
will not be able to sleep peacefully if he sees his friend awake and disturbed with thoughts. He will share each
and every grief of his friends. The poet says that these are the qualities that help us to differentiate faithful friend
from a flattering enemy.

Ans. The figure of speech is use is alliteration. Here the letter ‘F’ is repeated in every line.
