Student A

4 RESPOND Your job interview starts in 15 minutes. You need to buy a pen to write down notes. Listen,
then:
• Tell the shop assistant why it’s so urgent.
• Ask if they can help you in any way.

5 START You were taking part in an online lesson when your sister started being very noisy. You:
• Ask your sister to be quiet or leave.
• Say why your lesson is more important.

6 RESPOND A babysitter is looking after your son, when you receive a phone call. Listen, then:
• Ask exactly how it happened.
• Say why you think the babysitter should pay.

Student B

1 RESPOND Your teacher is going to talk to you about your homework. You need to listen, then:
• Say what you found difficult.
• Explain why you were having problems.
