A . Make the most of yourself by fanning the tiny, inner sparks of possibility

This year’s Summer assignment for English is focused on Girl Power !
Biasis and discrimination exist in society all around us ; the students of 8th
grade are determined to spread awareness that there is nothing really stopping
girls from becoming who they want to be and to remove the world’s impaired
vision regarding girls.
Choose to do any one of the following with reference to the book ‘Go, Girl,
Go!’
Beyond Boundaries by Deepa Agarwal.
1. Make a colourful collage on a standard A3 sheet using photographs,
headlines, articles, pictures and catchy slogans and phrases on the theme of the
book.Use the introduction given on page 6, 7 and 8 as reference. Title your
collage as ‘Go, Girl, Go for it!’
2. With reference to page 46 ‘Gender Bias in Sports’ write a Diary Entry of
about 2 pages in your Grammar notebook. Imagine that you are passionate
about football, cricket or even hockey and that you are facing obstacles in
pursuing this as a career. You may take ideas from the story: ‘Do you want to
play football?’ The Interesting twist to this task is that the boys will have to
think and write from a girl’s point of view!

3. After reading the story ‘Name changer’ on page 106, we learn to appreciate
the Secular nature of our country. Muslims, Hindus, Sikhs, Christians, Jains
and other religious and cultural groups live in harmony in India. Write a short
article of about 1 page in your Grammar notebook on this wonderful concept
of unity in diversity. Write an original article using your observations,
experiences and views. Provide the title: ‘Accepting one’s Identity: Being
Indian.’ Make a colourful collage on an A3 sheet on the concept of communal
harmony. Give it the title, We Are One!
B. Complete Comprehension Passage 4 to 8 of Section-A from Pull-Out
Worksheets in the book.
C. Read the two plays ‘The Merchant of Venice ‘ and ‘Macbeth ‘ from ‘Tales
from Shakespeare ‘ book and write the character sketch of any two of the
following characters on A-4 size sheets:
1. Antonio
2. Portia
3. Lady Macbeth
4. Macbeth
D . Revise the syllabus covered till now.

सकत़ा हैं । ऐसे मकन्हीों िो क़ायों को चुने और उन्हें पर्ूय करें । ऐस़ा करते हुए रों गीन A-4
शीट/ शीटोों पर अपने सुोंिर - सुोंिर मचत्र मचपक़ाएों तथ़ा क़ायय के मवषय में ि़ानक़ारी िे ते

TASK-1
General Instructions / Guidelines:
❖ All the work should be hand-written.
❖ Original drawings / illustrations and creative use of the material will be
appreciated.
❖ Present your work aesthetically in a scrapbook / folder or on A-4 size
sheets (in case of collages or presentations) and put it in an attractive folder
with your name, class and roll no. clearly written at the top.

The project needs to be completed on time and should be handed over to the
Science teacher. It will be counted as a part of the internal assessment grading.
The work will be evaluated for all the subjects on the following parameters.

Read Chapter 1 - Crop Production from your textbook and do ANY ONE of the

TASK-2

EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATION (ANY ONE)

1. Making curd to study the effect of Lactobacillus bacteria. (Page no.26)


2. Effect of yeast on dough. (Page no.27)
From the above activities, perform any one activity of your choice. Click
pictures of each step while performing. Take the print out of the pictures and
paste the same on an A4 size sheet.

TASK-3
Complete the HOTS questions of Ch-2 Microorganisms given on page no. 35
in science notebook.
SOCIAL SCIENCE

Material/Resources Required: A4 size sheets, art material, Chart paper, fabric


beads and any other material you want to use.
Instructions / Guideline:
Each student will do two individual projects.
All the work should be neatly written in the students handwriting or neatly
and aesthetically made original items by the students.
Original drawings / illustrations, where stipulated, and creative use of the
material will be appreciated.
Present your work aesthetically inside an attractive folder with your name,
class and roll no. clearly written at the top.
You can reuse an old folder or make one with a newspaper.
All written work to be done on A-4 size sheets.

The marks thus accrued will be counted as a part of the internal assessment.
The individual work will be evaluated along the following parameters.
1. Creativity
2. Presentation
3. Originality
4. Research

Work Specification: Both Tasks are compulsory.

Task 1

On an A4 size sheet every student will do the following tasks after completing
their investigation. Students will:
● Make a list of at least six names of individuals belonging to the tribes of
India from where one athlete has represented India in the sports/ athletic
events mentioned below:
1. Athletics
2. Archery
3. Shooting
4. Hockey
5. Boxing and wrestling
6. Football
● Write the name of the athlete.
● The achievement of the athlete.
● Write a few lines about the lives of the athlete as children, and what
motivated them to follow their goal.

Task 2

Every individual student will do any one of the following tasks.


● Make an original tribal artwork, it could be a painting inspired by tribal art
forms {Madhubani, Warli, Gond tribal art etc.}
or
● Dye a piece of fabric the tribal way or embroider the fabric in the tribal
style.

● Record a folk dance
or
● Folk song
or
● Make a piece of jewelry
or
● Write a poem about tribal people.

● Click a picture of yourself in a tribal costume.

● Record a few steps of a tribal dance.

Task 3

Make a folder/file of 7-8pages filled with pictures, stories, poems, and


information about any one of the following – Rani of Jhansi, Mahadji Sindhia,
Haidar Ali, Maharaja Ranjit Singh, Lord Dalhousie, Tipu Sultan, Bahadur
Shah Zafar.
Add relevant information about him/her like achievements, biography etc and
make your folder/file using innovation and creativity.
