104 -1 INSTRUCTIONS FOR WEIGHING

Helicopters should be weighed i n a draught-free hangar. Prior t o weighing,

t h e equipment s t a t u s of t h e helicopter s h a l l be checked against the equipment
l i s t . The equipment list must be completed i f necessary. In addition, the
mass must be determined f o r items which do not belong t o t h e helicopter, but
have t o be weighed together w i t h t h e helicopter ( f i x t u r e s , t o o l s , e t c . ) . The
mass of these items must then be subtracted from t h e recorded t o t a l mass of
t h e helicopter.
P r i o r t o the weighing, check t h e o i l l e v e l s of engines, main transmission,
intermediate gear box, t a i l r o t o r transmission, hydraulic reservoir; i f
necessary, replenish.
The o i l l e v e l s must be a t t h e "Max." o i l l e v e l marking.

104 -2 WEIGHING PROCEDURE

Special tools:
- Jacks
- Weighing beam 1121 W 1 r e f e r t o Chapter 103
- S p i r i t l e v e l o r clinometer
- Weighing device
1. Defuel the helicopter ( r e f e r t o chapter O6), but without draining
residual (unusable) f uel .
2. I n s t a l l weighing device and r a i s e t h e helicopter; r e f e r t o Chapter 103.
3. Using a s p i r i t l e v e l or clinometer, adjust t h e helicopter t o a horizontal
position; r e f e r t o Chapter 103.
4. Enter the individual masses measured a t the weighing points i n t o t h e
Weighing Report ( f i g . 104-2). Weighing devices f o r which a proper
adjustment t o Zero position i s not possible must be weighed together w i t h
t h e helicopter and entered i n t o t h e Weighing and Balance Report as gross
masses. The mass of t h e weighing device and weighing beam alone i s
entered a s t a r e .
5. When using e l e c t r o n i c weighing c e l l s it i s recommended t o carry out
several weighings. Between t h e individual weighings t h e c e l l s must be
interchanged (counterclockwise). Enter t h e mean value of the weighings
i n t o the Weighing and Balance Report.
6. Lower the helicopter c a r e f u l l y and remove t h e s p e c i a l t o o l s .
