Personally, I like to stick with all natural fibre yarns. - Mirasol, Ushya 100g:104m
The benefits of temperature regulation, breathability, - Cascades, Lana Grande 100g:80m

choice.
Acrylic/wool blends:

well with the pattern, and come with the added bonus of - Bernat Softee chunky twist 80g:77m

- Bernat Velvet: 300g:288m (this yarn
makes it tough to see the stitches- not a
good choice for beginners)

A few notes on the Pattern:

1) This pattern is worked with the wrong side of the crochet stitches on the exterior of the slipper. This helps
with shaping.
2) The whole pattern will be worked in a slightly tighter than usual tension.
3) There are detailed directions with photos on pages 6-9. The patterns for both sizes are on pages 10. A quick
reference guide on page 11 assumes you have read the directions, and will connect with slst, ch1 at the end of
each row. The quick reference is a great tool after you have made one or more pairs, to keep in your project
bag!
4) Commonly, the DCdec (DC2tog) stitches will leave holes in your slippers. Find a quick tutorial here on how to
tighten these stitches.
5) Cord length requirements are approximate, and personal preference may alter these numbers. If using
smaller cord stops, a small piece of tape around the end of the cord makes for easy threading.

stitches.
Sheepskin Slippers- Soles page 6

Using a fine tip marker or pen, trace the pattern piece onto the
sheepskin, including the dots for the holes.

Carefully cut out the soles using large scis-

sors.

Trim excess fleece to give the soles an even

edge.

If you are using a shaggy sheepskin, you

may want to trim the fleece length on the
entire sole.

Using the leather punch, punch out all the

holes along the edge of the soles.

When completed, carefully tug at the fleece

to pull up any excess fluff.

The soles are now ready.

Tip: for these small sizes, trim more
fleece for a less bulky slipper.
Tip: this is a bit of a messy process, you
may want to cut a few pairs of soles at once
if you know you are making multiple pairs.

Sheepskin Slippers- Directions page 7

NOTE: These directions are written to make size 0-3 mos slippers. Patterns
for both sizes are found following the directions.

Attaching the soles to the yarn: Directions are shown in Cascades Mag-
ROW 1 num, “Sage Flurry”

Note: use the E/4/3.5mm hook

a a
a) With the tail on the leather side, insert hook
from the fleece side in the starting hole (at the
heel of the slipper), and pull a loop of yarn
through to the fleece side.

b) Chain 1 into the loop

b b

c) Insert hook into next hole to the left, wrap

yarn to pull another loop through (2 loops on
hook). Wrap yarn again and pull through both
loops to create a single crochet stitch.
Continue around all holes in the single crochet
stitch. With the fleece side up, you will work
c c
towards the left (counterclockwise) Be careful
not to work tightly on this row or the soles will
curl (26 stitches)
IMPORTANT NOTE: You will work the
slipper with the wrong side of the crochet
stitches on the exterior of the slipper. This
will give your slippers the proper shape. d d
d) When you have completed the single crochet
in the last hole, insert your hook back into the
first hole, and create a single crochet stitch be-
tween the last hole and the first hole.

e) Slip stitch to connect. Chain 1

e e
NOTE: The ch1 and ch2 stitches in the
pattern do not count as a stitch in any
of the rows.
