REFLECTION:
1. What is Human Dignity based on your own understanding?
- For me, human dignity is not just having strong morals that help society prosper and improve,
but also acting on them. Every human being has the fundamental right to be respected by
himself and by his fellow man. Every person has the right to express his or her moral ideas
through words and deeds that will help him grow as he uses his or her talents to benefit
others. People have the right to be fearless. They have the right to find peace in accepting and
understanding themselves, but only to the extent that their rights do not infringe on the rights
and beliefs of others. Each person's rights end when others' dignity begins. Furthermore,
Human rights are justified by human dignity. When people are segregated and assigned a
value based on qualities such as class, gender, religion, and so on, it results in an unequal
society with rampant discrimination. People with greater value are given special treatment.
Recognizing human dignity and the universality of human rights isn't just about protecting
and respecting individuals. It is for the benefit of the entire world. The world would be a
much better, more peaceful place if everyone's rights were respected and everyone had equal
opportunities to prosper.

2. What is Freedom? Is it more of a feeling or a virtue? Are you really free?

People have an innate right to freedom that they have had since birth. It is not something
that can be sensed, touched, or reached. It is the option to live one's life doing what one
wants, living where one wants, eating whatever one wants, and learning what one's heart
wishes. Freedom is about ensuring respect, not just living freely. Every society defines
freedom in its own way. Different cultures view freedom differently, and as a result, people
living in different cultures enjoy freedom in ways that they deem proper. Enjoying our
freedom does not imply disregarding the rights of others and living our lives as we see fit.
When exercising our freedom, we must regard the rights and feelings of those around us.

Freedom and virtue are connected but not the same. That is, liberty, or the freedom to choose
without coercion from the state, is an essential precondition for virtue. And, in the end, virtue
is required for the survival of liberty. Virtue cannot exist without liberty, without the ability
to make moral decisions. I conclude that I am free because I am enjoying my life as long as I
respect people around me. I am free in a sense that I can be myself today and achieving my
dreams.

3. Explain why your dignity is inviolable. What makes you different from other created realities
(animals)?

Human dignity is unbreakable. It must be honored and safeguarded. Human dignity is

not only a basic right in and of itself, but it also serves as the true foundation for all other
fundamental rights. Inviolable insofar as they are inherent in the human person and human
dignity, and because it would be pointless to proclaim rights if nothing was done to ensure the
duty of respecting them by all people, everywhere, and for all people. The right to life is the
most fundamental human right.
Human dignity necessitates the acknowledgment of rights that ensure a dignified life.
Even if the animal lacks dignity, it must be protected by law because it lacks recognize.
