Edith Nesbit’s
Poetry
Competition

To commemorate the 150th anniversary of the birth of Edith Nesbit on 15 August

1858 the society wanted to organise a poetry competition. This was open to
children from 6-10 and 11-16 years of age and it had a great response from the
children.

The winners were: Danielle Tye’s for the 6-10 year olds with ‘A Little Fairy’ and for
the 11-16 year olds Eloise Richardson’s ‘Edith Nesbit’s 150th Anniversary’.
A signed copy of Jacqueline Wilson’s (an English writer of children books) latest
book ‘Cookie’ was given by her to the first prize winners and signed photographs
to all competitors.
