DAILY LESSON Teacher Clement John R. Cordova Learning Area Science

LOG
Teaching Date & Time Quarter 4
I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standards The learner demonstrates an understanding of the relation of geographical location of the Philippines to its
environment.
B. Performance Standards The learner shall be able to analyze the advantage of the location of the Philippines in relation to the climate, weather,
and seasons.

C. Learning Competencies MAIN COMPETENCY COMPETENCY WITHIN THE COMPETENCY ACROSS OTHER

After going through the lesson, the
students are expected to:
a. discuss the different reference lines used to
locate places on Earth.
b. locate a specific place using the coordinate
system; and
c. recognize the relationship between latitude
and the climate of a certain place.

presenting the lesson
The students will answer the teacher’s
questions.

B. Establishing a purpose for The teacher will present the objectives of

today’s lesson.
the lesson
The students will read the following objectives to
establish a purpose for the lesson.

C. Presenting The teacher will present an activity called Discovery Method/Cooperative Learning Self-Learning Modules
“WELL IT’S N-E-W-S TO ME” using PPT
examples/instances of the new
presentation that will be answered by the
lesson students in group.

Instruction: The teacher will group the students.

In three, minutes, the students will find the
location of the continents using the given map.

After the activity the teacher will ask the

following guide questions:
a. How did you find the locations of the points?
b. What does the lines horizontal and vertical
gives you?

D. Discussing new concept and After the activity “WELL IT’S N-E-W-S TO ME,” Elaboration Self-Learning Modules
the teacher together with the students will
practicing new skills #1
answer the activity “POINT ME OUT!”

Instruction: Let us find the coordinates if the

points with respect to the given lines.

During this phase, the teacher will discuss the

concept of the lesson and while the students
listen to the teacher they will be told to take
notes important information.
E. Discussing new concept and The teacher will present an activity called Inquiry-based Method Self-Learning Modules
“LOCATE ME” using PPT presentation that will
practicing new skills #2
be answered by the teacher and students
together.

Instruction: Let us find the coordinates if the

points with respect to the given lines.

During this phase, the teacher will discuss the

concept of the lesson and while the students
listen to the teacher they will be told to take
notes important information.

F. Developing Mastery (Leads to The teacher will present an activity called Drill and Practice Self-Learning Modules
“POINTS EVERYWHERE” using PPT
Formative Assessment)
presentation that will be answered by the
students individually.

Instruction: Locate the points of the places in

the given coordinate system.

After the activity “POINTS EVERYWHERE,” the

teacher will ask the following questions.

1. How did you determine the points in the

coordinate system?
2. Do you have techniques and ways in doing
so?

G. Finding practical The teacher will present through PPT an activity Retrieval Practice Method/Cooperative Learning Self-Learning Modules
called “THE POINTS IN THE PHILIPPINES.” In
applications of concept and
this activity, the teacher will allow the students
skills in daily living to make a group of three and complete the parts
of the activity.

H. Making generalization and The teacher will further discuss the following: Inductive Method/Partial Outlines Self-Learning Modules
abstraction about the lesson
When we describe the Earth in spherical
coordinates it is called Geographic, or Un-
projected. The most common system for locating
points on the earth is with "Longitudes" and
"Latitudes". Both longitude and latitude are
angles measured with the center of the earth as
an origin. A longitude is an angle from the prime
merdian, measured to the east (longitudes to the
west are negative). Latitudes measure an angle
up from the equator (latitudes to the south are
negative).

I. Evaluating learning The teacher will give the students a short quiz. Self-learning Mastery Self-Learning Modules

Instruction: The best way in improving your
accuracy in answering questions by constant
practice. So, locate the places with points on the
map.
