Public and Private Elementary and Secondary Schools
1. Relative to Division Memorandum No. 343, s. 2023, entitled SY 2023-2024 Division

Schools Press Conference (DSPC), this office announces the conduct of the SY 2023-
2024 Sub-Office Schools Press Conference on October 7, 2023, 7:30 AM at Numeriano
Babao Hall, Lobo Central School.
2. The activity aims to:

a. demonstrate understanding of journalism through skillful execution in various
platforms;
b. recognize the role of journalism in advocating for social consciousness and
environmental awareness;
c. promote fair and ethical use of media as tenets of responsible journalism;
d. foster camaraderie and enrich learning experiences through healthy and friendly
competitions; and
e. provide learners opportunities to use the skills learned in campus journalism for
their future careers.
3. The participants in this activity are the Public Schools District Supervisor,
administrators/school heads, Journalism Coordinators, Technical Working Group, and
campus journalists in elementary and secondary (see Enclosure 1 for the Program,
Enclosure 2 for the Training Matrix, and Enclosure 3 for the Technical Working Group).
4. The first-place winners in different categories will represent the sub-office in the
Division Schools Press Conference on October 21, 2023, at Bauan Technical School,
Bauan West Sub-Office, and must submit a school paper entry through this link:

5. The teachers and other personnel involved in the conduct of the activity on Saturday
shall be given service credits or compensatory time off (CTO) based on DO 53, s. 2003:
Updated Guidelines on Grant of Vacation Service Credits to Teachers, amended by DO
84, s. 2003: Addendum to DepEd Order N0. 53, s. 2003 (Updated Guidelines on Grant
of Vacation Service Credits to Teachers), which states in paragraph 4.11. “Attendance
or participation in Special DepEd projects and activities that are short-term in duration,
such as English, Science, and Math Mentors’ Training, curriculum writing workshops,
planning workshops, etc., if such are held during the summer vacation or during
weekends”.
6. A registration fee of twenty pesos (P 20.00) shall be charged to each learner-

participant and thirty pesos (P 30.00) to each school paper adviser to cover the cost of
certificates, snacks, tokens for resource speakers and judges, and related expenses.
7. Wide dissemination of this memorandum is earnestly desired.
