In order for pupils to behave appropriately both within and outside of schools, school rules and
regulations must be adhered to. Because they are the ones who can most directly benefit their
community in the near future, kids are the school's top priority. They are also the key to success
and the most important educational materials. Even when they are not on school grounds,
students must abide by the rules and regulations if they are to learn how to be disciplined,
obedient, responsible, and honest. The school rules and regulations aim to spell out clearly how
students can exemplify the 4 core values of our school, namely Mind set for Excellence, Integrity,
Responsibility and Respect. We hope to teach students how to uphold certain standards of behavior
such that they will not exceed the boundaries of acceptable behavior in school and society.
(Jan Babasa 2019) School rules and regulations represent important control mechanisms to
which students conform to. It is usually associated with classroom management and school
discipline which remains a great challenge to many students. Various reasons such as lack of
awareness, knowledge, respect for authority, cooperation, and self-esteem discipline. Research
needs to be conducted to maintain the safety of everyone inside the school, to lessen crime, and
to practice discipline on every student. Also (Luz, 2020) School discipline is related to the action
taken by a teacher or the school organization toward a student (or a group of students). School
rules can guide the children’s behavior or set limits to help them learn to take care of themselves,
other people, and the world around them. The school system sets rules and policies to restrict
certain behavior or attitudes that are seen as harmful or against school policies, educational
norms, school traditions, etc. The focus of discipline is shifting, and alternative approaches
emerge due to significantly high dropout rates and disproportionate punishment upon minority
students.

To coordinate, regulate and organize the individuals and their activities in school, classroom
rules and other school rules are constructed and upheld by an ongoing social process. They are
parts of the daily life of school in Sweden (e.g. Johansson and Johansson 2003; Evaldsson 2005;
Thornberg 2006b) as well as in other countries (e.g. Jackson 1968; Jackson, Boostrom, and
Hansen 1993; Brint, Contreras, and Matthews 2001). School rules are here defined as
prescriptions, legitimized by teachers, about how to behave in school situations, standards by
which behavior in school is judged to be appropriate, right, and desirable, or inappropriate,
wrong, and forbidden. School rules are usually associated with classroom management and
school discipline in terms of establishing and maintaining an environment conducive to learning
in the classroom as well as order, non-violence, and safety in the playground, corridors, dining
hall and so forth in school (see e.g. McGinnis, Frederick, and Edwards 1995; Malone and
Tietjens 2000).
