I got the idea for 1 tricking / killing Simon while I was watching a TV report. A guy’s wife
was 2 harassing / cheating on him, and he paid someone to kill her. The police found out
what he’d done because they could check his 3 phone calls / social media posts. He could
have avoided being found out because a lot of other people hated her, too, but he wasn’t clever
enough. If you’re 4 depressed / clever, you can get away with killing someone who lots of
people 5 hate / date because there are plenty of 6 suspects / techie geeks. Everyone at
Bayview High hated Simon, but I was clever enough to kill him.

sentences (1–6) below.
I was sure, when the police were preparing to show me the unpublished About That posts, that I was
going to read something about Kris and me. I’ve been worried since last spring at junior prom that
Simon guessed I was gay. Once, when we were in the bathroom at a party, he put his arm round me
and pulled me really close to him. He’d never had a girlfriend as far as I knew, and I wondered if he
was trying to find out if I was gay. I was so worried that I got Vanessa to tell Simon he couldn’t come
to her after-prom party.
