Christmas Songs Lyrics

1. AWAY IN A MANGER

Away in a manger, no crib for a bed,

The little Lord Jesus lay down his sweet head,
The stars in the bright sky, looked down where he lay,
The little Lord Jesus asleep on the hay.

The cattle are lowing, the baby awakes,

But little Lord Jesus, no crying he makes.
I love thee Lord Jesus; look down from the sky,
And stay by my side until morning is nigh.

Be near me Lord Jesus; I ask thee to stay

Close by me for ever and love me, I pray;
Bless all the dear children in thy tender care,
And fit us for heaven to love with thee there.

3. FROSTY THE SNOWMAN

Frosty the Snowman

was a happy, jolly soul,
With a corncob pipe and a button nose,
And two eyes made out of coal.
Frosty the snowman was
a fairytale they say,
He was made of snow,
but the children know
How he came to life one day.

There must have been some magic

in that old silk hat they found,
For when they placed it on his head
he began to dance around.
Frosty the snowman was alive
as he could be
And the children say he could
laugh and play
Just the same as you and me.

Frosty the snowman

knew the sun was hot that day,
So he said, “let’s run and
we’ll have some fun now

Before I melt away”.

Down to the village with
a broomstick in his hand
Racing here and there
all around the square
Saying, “Catch me if you can!”

He led them down the streets of town

Right to the traffic cop.
And he only paused a moment when
He heard him holler, “stop!”
Frosty the snowman
had to hurry on his way
But he waved goodbye saying,
“Don’t you cry,
I’ll be back again some day”.

Thumpity, thump, thump,

thumpity, thump, thump,
Look at Frosty go!
Thumpity, thump, thump,
thumpity, thump thump,
Over the hills of snow!
4. JINGLE BELLS

Dashing through the snow,

In a one-horse open sleigh,
O’er the fields we go,
Laughing all the way.

Bells on bobtails ring,

Making spirits bright,
What fun it is to laugh and sing
a sleighing song tonight!

Oh! Jingle Bells! Jingle Bells!

Jingle all the way!
Oh what fun it is to ride
In a one-horse open sleigh!

Jingle bells, jingle bells!

Jingle all the way!
Oh what fun it is to ride
In a one-horse open sleigh!
5. JOY TO THE WORLD

Joy to the World , the Lord is come!

Let earth receive her King;
Let every heart prepare Him room,
And Heaven and nature sing,
And Heaven and nature sing,
And Heaven, and Heaven, and nature sing.

Joy to the World, the Savior reigns!

Let men their songs employ;
While fields and floods, rocks, hills and plains
Repeat the sounding joy,
Repeat the sounding joy,
Repeat, repeat, the sounding joy.

No more let sins and sorrows grow,

Nor thorns infest the ground;
He comes to make His blessings flow
Far as the curse is found,
Far as the curse is found,
Far as, far as, the curse is found.

He rules the world with truth and grace,

And makes the nations prove
The glories of His righteousness,
And wonders of His love,
And wonders of His love,
And wonders, wonders, of His love.
6. O COME ALL YE FAITHFUL

Oh come all ye faithful, Joyful and triumphant,

Oh come ye, Oh come ye to Bethlehem.
Come and behold Him, Born the King of Angels

Oh come let us adore Him

Oh come let us adore Him
Oh come let us adore Him
Christ the Lord

God of God, Light of Light,

Lo! He abhors not the Virgin’s Womb
Very God, begotten not created:

Oh come let us adore Him..

Sing, choirs of angels, Sing in exultation,

Sing, all you citizens of heaven above;
Glory to God in the highest

Oh come let us adore Him..

Yea, Lord, we greet thee,

Born this happy morning,
Jesu to thee be glory given;
Word of the Father,
Now in flesh appearing
7. O LITTLE TOWN OF BETHLEHEM

O little town of Bethlehem

How still we see thee lie
Above thy deep and dreamless sleep
The silent stars go by
Yet in thy dark streets shineth
The everlasting Light
The hopes and fears of all the years
Are met in thee tonight

For Christ is born of Mary

And gathered all above
While mortals sleep, the angels keep
Their watch of wondering love
O morning stars together
Proclaim the holy birth
And praises sing to God the King
And Peace to men on earth

How silently, how silently

The wondrous gift is given!
So God imparts to human hearts
The blessings of His heaven.
No ear may his His coming,
But in this world of sin,
Where meek souls will receive him still,
The dear Christ enters in.

O holy Child of Bethlehem

Descend to us, we pray
Cast out our sin and enter in
Be born to us today
We hear the Christmas angels
The great glad tidings tell
O come to us, abide with us
Our Lord Emmanuel
8. RUDOLPH THE RED-NOSED REINDEER

Rudolph, the red-nosed reindeer

had a very shiny nose.
And if you ever saw him,
you would even say it glows.

All of the other reindeer

used to laugh and call him names.
They never let poor Rudolph
join in any reindeer games.

Then one foggy Christmas Eve

Santa came to say:
"Rudolph with your nose so bright,
won't you guide my sleigh tonight?"

Then all the reindeer loved him

as they shouted out with glee,
Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer,
you'll go down in history!
9. SILENT NIGHT

Silent night, holy night

All is calm, all is bright
Round yon Virgin Mother and Child
Holy Infant so tender and mild
Sleep in heavenly peace
Sleep in heavenly peace

Silent night, holy night!

Shepherds quake at the sight
Glories stream from heaven afar
Heavenly hosts sing Alleluia!
Christ, the Saviour is born
Christ, the Saviour is born

Silent night, holy night

Son of God, love's pure light
Radiant beams from Thy holy face
With the dawn of redeeming grace
Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth
Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth
10. THE FIRST NOEL

The First Noel, the Angels did say

Was to certain poor shepherds
in fields as they lay
In fields where they
lay keeping their sheep
On a cold winter's night
that was so deep.
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel
Born is the King of Israel!

They looked up and saw a star

Shining in the East beyond them far
And to the earth it gave great light
And so it continued both day and night.
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel
Born is the King of Israel!

And by the light of that same star

Three Wise men came from country far
To seek for a King was their intent
And to follow the star wherever it went.
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel
Born is the King of Israel!

This star drew nigh to the northwest

O'er Bethlehem it took its rest
And there it did both Pause and stay
Right o'er the place where Jesus lay.
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel
Born is the King of Israel!

Then entered in those Wise men three

Full reverently upon their knee
And offered there in His presence
Their gold and myrrh and frankincense.
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel
Born is the King of Israel!
Then let us all with one accord
Sing praises to our heavenly Lord
That hath made Heaven and
earth of nought
And with his blood
mankind has bought.
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel
Born is the King of Israel!
11. UP ON THE ROOFTOP

Up on the rooftop reindeer pause

Out jumps good old Santa Clause
Down thru the chimney with lots of toys
All for the little ones
Christmas joys

Chorus

Ho, ho, ho!

Who wouldn’t go!
Ho, ho, ho!
Who wouldn’t go!
Up on the rooftop
Click, click, click
Down thru the chimney with
Good Saint Nick
First comes the stocking
Of little Nell
Oh, dear Santa
Fill it well
Give her a dolly
That laughs and cries
One that will open
And shut her eyes

Repeat Chorus

Next comes the stocking

Of little Will
Oh, just see what
A glorious fill
Here is a hammer
And lots of tacks
Also a ball
And a whip that cracks

Repeat Chorus
12. WE WISH YOU A MERRY CHRISTMAS

We wish you a Merry Christmas;

We wish you a Merry Christmas;
We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Good tidings we bring to you and your kin;
Good tidings for Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Oh, bring us a figgy pudding;
Oh, bring us a figgy pudding;
Oh, bring us a figgy pudding and a cup of good cheer
We won't go until we get some;
We won't go until we get some;
We won't go until we get some, so bring some out here
We wish you a Merry Christmas;
We wish you a Merry Christmas;
We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
13. GOOD KING WENCESLAS

Good King Wenceslas looked out, on the feast of Stephen,

When the snow lay round about, Deep and crisp and even;
Brightly shone the moon that night, though the frost was cruel,
When a poor man came in sight, gath’ring winter fuel.

“Hither, page and stand by me, if thought know’st it, telling,

Yonder peasant, who is he? Where and what his dwelling?”
“Sire he lives a good league hence, underneath the mountain,#
Right against the forest fence, by St Agnes’ fountain.”

“Bring me flesh and bring me wine, bring me pine-logs hither;

Though and I will see him dine, when we bear them thither.”
Page and monarch, forth they went, forth they went together,
Through the rude wind’s wild lament and the bitter weather

“Sire the night is darker now and the wind blows stronger,
Fails my heart I know not how, I can go no longer”
“Mark my footsteps, good my page; tread thou in them boldly:
Thou shalt find the winter’s rage freeze they blood less coldly.”

In his master’s steps he trod, where the snow lay dinted;

Heat was in the very sod, which the saint had printed.
Therefore, Christian men , be sure, Wealth of rank possessing,
Ye who now will bless the poor, shall yourselves find blessing.
