UST CRICKET TOURNAMENT 2023

Rules & Regulations for Men’s Cricket


General Rules
1. Its mandatory to have Company ID Card for all the participating employees.
2. Player must wear Sport Shoes, T-Shirt and Track Pants during the play.
3. A player who has played in one team is not allowed to play in another team.
4. All matches would be knock out matches.
5. This tournament would be played with Green Guru Heavy Tennis ball.
6. Each innings would start with a new ball.
7. Knockout matches would be of ‘10’ overs & SF and Final matches will be of ‘12’ overs a side.
8. Power Play:
a. For Knockout Matches - First 3 overs are mandatory power play. Only 2 fielders are allowed
outside 30-yard circle.
b. For Semi Final and Matches - First 4 overs are mandatory power play. Only 2 fielders are
allowed outside 30-yard circle.
c. During the non-power play overs minimum of 4 fielders should be present within the 30-
yard circle, failure to do so during a delivery of a ball would be called as a No-ball by the
umpire.
9. Innings/Match Duration:
a. Knockout matches- Total match duration is 100 Minutes (for 10 overs).
b. SF & Final matches - Total match duration is 120 minutes. (for 12 overs)
10. Team Reporting Time:
a. Team should report 30 minutes prior to the scheduled match start time. Toss would be
held 30 minutes before the start of the scheduled time.
b. Delay beyond 15 minutes, match will be awarded to the opposition team.
c. In case of delay in start of the match due to late arrival of teams.
i. Delay upto 10 minutes, 10 runs will be awarded to opposition team.
11. On-field umpire’s decision would be the final one.
12. It is captain’s responsibility to uphold spirit of the game by his team.
13. Any prolonged argument by a team, would yield a walkover to the opposition team based on
the decision by umpires and dedicated volunteers.
14. If any team walks out of the ground on protest during the playtime, the team will be disqualified
from the tournament.
15. If any team misbehaves or abuses the umpires, dedicated volunteers, and same/opposition team
members inside the field or outside the field during the match, the team will be disqualified from
the tournament.
16. In case if a match ends in ‘Tie’, Super Over will be held.
Rules for super over
a. The team batting second in the match will bat first in the Super Over.
b. 3 Batsmen from each team can bat and 1 bowler from each team will bowl.
c. Entire fielding unit is allowed to field.
d. In case super over is tied, below rules are applicable.
i. Highest Number of 6’s (main + super over)– 1st priority.
ii. Highest Number of 4’s (main + super over) – 2nd priority.
iii. Least Number of wickets fallen (main + super over) – 3rd Priority.
iv. Above priority order only for main match will be followed.
17. For every win, a team would get 2 points and losing team won’t get any points.
18. If a match is stopped due to rain,
a. Knockout Matches: 1-1 point would be given to both teams.
b. Semi Final and Final Match: Highest Ranked Team would be declared as Winner.
19. In knock out stages if two teams are tied with same points, NRR would be considered and the
team which has a better NRR would move to the knockout stage.
Net Run Rate= (Total Runs Scored / Total Overs Faced)–(Total Runs Conceded/ Total Overs Bowled)
20. Walkover - 2 points to the team reporting for play and this match will not be taken for calculation
of NRR.
21. Semi Finals will be played between first four teams in order of their Points and NRR.
22. Players will have to bring their own Bats, Caps, Wicketkeeping Gloves, Sunglasses and Water Bottles.
Tournament committee will arrange Stumps, Bails and Balls.
23. Any requests for change of match timings will not be entertained.
24. In matters of doubt not covered by the tournament rules, the decision of the tournament
committee will be final and binding upon all concerned as per the standard rules.

Batsman Rules:
1. All “no-balls” (As per ICC rules: front foot, side-line, above the waist, Fielding restriction etc) result
in a free hit in the next delivery, where field can be changed if needed.
2. A runner can be used only when a player gets injured during the innings or during fielding. A
runner cannot be used for a player who is injured before the start of the match / tired during the
match. The runner can be used only with the discretion of the umpires depending on the
reason/cause and consent from the opposition captain.
3. All the other ICC cricket rules are applicable as it is.
4. Leg Before Wicket (LBW) is out of Scope for tournament.

Bowler Rules:
1. Regulations are as follows.
a. 10 Overs Match -> Only 2 bowlers can bowl Maximum 3 overs each.
b. 12 Overs Match -> Only 3 bowlers can bowl Maximum 3 overs each.
2. One bouncer is allowed per over, provided the ball passes between the shoulder and the head,
However, ball passing over the head will be declared as a wide.
3. Free hit is allowed for all No balls (foot no-balls, above waist no-balls, no balls due to fielding
restriction or some other reason)
4. Wicket keeper if wants to bowl, he could bowl but before that it’s his/captain’s responsibility to
inform the umpire about the change of wicket keeper. This needs to be ensured by fielding captain
& in case missed out umpire could call the delivery as no-ball.
5. Mankand Run-out is not allowed in the interest of spirit of the game.
6. All the other ICC cricket rules are applicable as it is.
