The Department of Education has issued guidelines for the implementation of its
"Catch Up Fridays" learning intervention program, which will be officially

DepEd Memorandum 001 s. 2024 states that the “Catch Up Fridays” program will
dedicate half of every Friday to reading and the other half to values, peace, and

Vice President Duterte underlined the significance of giving kids enough time to
work on their reading and critical thinking skills during her speech at the "Araw ng
Pagbasa" activity.
DepEd presented a list of reading intervention activities in the memorandum, such
as using flash cards, singing songs, playing games, and other strategies to "activate
learners' prior knowledge.
This will be followed by activities performed during actual reading time, in which
teachers can host exercises to help students "visualize scenes, characters, and
situations," as well as "identify the main idea and supporting details," among other
things.
DepEd also supplied a list of activities for enhancing reading, including book clubs,
choral reading, book reports, reading journals, and other activities.
In light of this, the West Dirita students came together with both teaching and non-
teaching staff to promote the launching of the program. For the purpose of the
activity, teachers as well as pupils each brought a variety of reading resources.
