Immediate News Release

Structure Fire 1800 Riverside Drive

News release prepared by:

Captain Ken Morris

At approximately 9:14 PM February 2, 2024, the Missoula Rural Fire District (MRFD) was
dispatched to a report of a structure fire at 1800 Riverside Dr. The first arriving engine company
reported a small single-story house fully involved with fire. Smoke and flames were coming out of
the roof and windows and the roof had a partial collapse upon arrival. No occupants were on
scene and it’s unknown if anyone currently lives at the home.

MRFD crews were able to control the fire shortly after arriving on scene. Due to the
amount of debris and most of the roof collapsing, crews had difficulty extinguishing the fire
completely. The home is a complete loss. A damage estimate is not yet available. One MRFD
engine remained on scene throughout the night on fire watch and to put out hot spots. No injuries
were reported to firefighters on scene, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

MRFD responded to the incident with one engine, a ladder truck, four water tenders, and
one command vehicle. MRFD also received assistance from Frenchtown Fire, Missoula Emergency
Services, The Missoula County Sheriff’s Department, and Northwestern Energy. MRFD would like
to thank our partner agencies for their assistance on this incident.
