We prepared a presentation about Edgar Allan Poe and his most famous poem The Raven.

Edgar Allan Poe was born on the 19th of January 1809 and died on the 7th of October 1949. He was
an American writer, poet and literary critic. He is considered as the father of modern detective
stories and one of the earliest science fiction writer. He is also known for his short horror stories.
When he was young his father left them, and his mother died shortly after that. He grew up with his foster family which wasn’t officially
his foster family, but they lived together. For a short time, he unsuccessfully attended the University of Virginia but had to leave because
of his gambling and debts.

Most of his life he struggled financially and suffered from depression, alcoholism and drug use and it
could be the cause of his death but it isn’t really clear how he died.

His personal life was quite interesting. He married his 13 years old cousin Virginia. She was his big
support so when she died he started drinking again after a pause.

He wrote for example The Pit and the Pendulum, The Fall of the House of Ushers or Annabel-Lee.
