Owonrin-Sogbe

1. Ifa foresees ire, Ifa says the person should make ebo, so that the person’s secret
may not be known to many people.

Ifa says, some people are planning to disgrace the person, Ifa says it shall be
difficult for them to accomplish their aims.

Ebo: 7 Eyele (pigeons), 7 Rooster, Bowl of Oole (beans based product), bowl of
akara (beans cake) a basket of eko (corn meal), Money.

Egungun: Rooster, Oole, Akara, Eko

“Owonrin-sogbe awo aye


Owonrin-sogbo awo orun
Dia fun Agan Eluju
Eyi omo araye fedi e ri
Won ni ko rubo – o rubo
Igi igbale leri o
Odomode kii r’Agan were o
Igi igbale leri o”

Meaning:
“Owonrin-sogbe the sage of Aye
Owonrin-sogbe the sage of heaven
Casts Ifa divination for Agan-Eluju
Whose people think its secret shall be reveals
It was asked to make ebo
He complied
You can se the tree of the grove
No one can reveal the secret of Agan
You can only the tree of the grove”

Story: Aagan went for Ifa consultation about its festival. Agan was apprehensive
about making the festival, so Agan consulted Ifa, Ifa asked Agan to make
ebo, and feed its head. Agan complied. And Agan secret was shield from
been revealed. Ifa says there are evil machinations against the person, by
some people, if the person could make ebo, feed Eegun and the person’s
head. Evil machination of people shall not harm the person.
2. Ifa advices this person to make ebo for general accomplishment. Ifa says there
is one Esu in the family compound of the person. The person should go and
feed that Esu.

Ebo: 8 roosters, palm-oil, 8 pigeon,


Esu: He-goat, kolanut, gin, palm-oil.

Dia fun won nilu Ikeremeji
Won f’ekun sunrahun ire gbogbo
Won ni kan rubo – won rubo
Esu gba tire, ko ma ya lo
Owonrin a s’ogbe
K’Esu gba”

Meaning:
“Esu may you accept thee
Cast Ifa divination for the person of Ikeremeji
When they were dare for wants
They were asked to make ebo
They complied
Esu, Here is your portion and give way
Owonrin will strick ogbe
May Esu accept thee”

Story: The people of Ikeremeji were plagued with disappointment. They went for
Ifa consultation. Awo told them that, they should make ebo and feed Esu
in their town. They complied, and feed Esu. From then on they always
accomplished all there endeavours.

3. Ifa advices this person to make ebo and feed Esu. Ifa says this person always
lost something the person should make ebo against incoming robbery and war.
The robber has robbed many people, it is now the person turn to be robbed.

Ebo: Rooster for a person, He-goat for the community


Esu: He-goat, Gin, palm-oil, Kola, Bitter Kola.

Meaning:
A slim board is the sage of head of the forest
Cast Ifa divination for Esu Odara
Who has been robbing both the King and Kith
Cast Ifa divination for Orunmila
When He said this Esu could not rob him
He was asked to make ebo
He complied
Esu, this your portion and leave
Owonrin will conspire against Ogbe
May Esu accept thee”

Story:
Esu has been robbing many people, towns and villages. Orunmila was
apprehensive about this, development; consult Ifa against the impending
danger, Ifa advises Him to make ebo. He complied.
Ifa advices that, it is good to prevent ourself against impending danger,
instead of waiting for the danger to come first or before we act.

4. Ifa warns the person to make ebo, aginst Iyami, so that the Iyami may not be
disturbing the person’s family.

Ebo: He-goat, eko, Owo, Ewe jogbo (a kind of leave)


Isefa: Ewe jogbo, pound together with soap. Imprint the verse with Iyerosun
and chant the verse and mix with the soap for bathing.

“Esu peere jegede


Egba peere jegede
Dia fun Ologe-Esa
Eyi ti o koro l’eje tomotomo
Won ni ko rubo – O rubo
Ati j’egba ewe jobo
Eje Oge ma koro”

Meaning:
“Esu I rebuked thee
Egba (palsy) I rebuked thee
Whose blood including its children will be very bitter to suck
They were asked to make ebo
It complied
The birtterness of Oge’s blood prevent it from dying
We have ate plant of J’ogbo
The blood of Oge is too bitter”
Story:
Oge was plagued with Abiku, born to have children, because of this, Oge
went for Ifa consultation and Awo told Oge to make ebo and made special
medicine for Oge to make its blood bitter for Iyami.
