The Best News

Lovely has just transferred to a new school because of her father’s new work
assignment. She does not like the way their life had become after her Dad has
been promoted in his work. They just keep on transferring from city to city and town
after town . She couldn’t have a chance of being close to a neighbor, a classmate or
a friend in school. This set-up of their living has become her greatest fear, when
her dad will tell them “ I have a good news” when in fact this is very opposite to
what she’s thinking of. She don’t want to hear the rest of that line. “I am always
alone, I don’t have a sister or a brother to whom I could talked to. I don’t like this
kind of life, but what can I do?”, Lovely talked to herself in the mirror. And she just
sighed .

One day, she saw her mom in the living room packing things in a box. “What
is it mom? Are we gonna leave this house, again?
“Please tell me I have a wrong guess. I had just transferred to a new school for a
month and we even haven’t meet our neighbors.” “Well, I guess it’s better this way.
We’re just having a tour to places”, Lovely added. But her mother just gave her a
smile and tapped her back. “You really are a big girl now, you already had those
thoughts”. I am so sorry for what you’ve been through my child”, her mother said.
“Life has never been easy especially for you. I don’t want you to experience all
of those things but we have to, for our own good, for your future”, her mother added.
“But this time, we are not leaving this house , we will stay for good”, her mother said.
“Really? But why are you packing ?”, Lovely said.
“This is for the orphanage in the next town, we had a lot of old clothes that were
no longer using that might be very useful for others”, her mother replied.
“Thanks God, it’s an answered prayer. I am so happy mom. This is the best
news I ever heard.” “I can’t wait to tell Leslie that I won’t be transferring again.”
Lovely said, and they both hugged each other.

 A New Friend

Carmelle loves to have a walk in the park in the afternoon after class. It is so peaceful
and the air is very relaxing. Birds are flying from trees to trees, butterflies sipping nectars
from the flowers everywhere. It’s a wonderful place to unwind and relax. Her favorite spot is
to sit in the bench right next to a fountain where she could see the different vehicles. Many
would think that she is weird because she loves being alone. She don’t have a bunch of
friends or a girl group in school. She’s happy being just by herself.

One Saturday morning, Carmelle is excited to go to the park. She knew that her
classmates will be there too. They will be playing their favorite dodgeball game. She’s not a
fan with games but she enjoys watching her classmates from a far. She’s contented seeing
them laughing while running around. “Catch the ball!”, shouted by one of them.

But the ball went off to the shrubs near the bench where Carmelle is sitting down. So,
she went to get the ball but surprisingly, a very cute brown puppy showed up carrying the
ball in its mouth. “Wow, you are so cute, and you got the ball”, Carmelle uttered. The dog ran
towards the group and gave the ball to them.

“You are so great little puppy, you did a good job!’, said Carmelle. “
The puppy kissed her hands and licked her fingers. Carmelle was so happy that she had found
a new friend and a new pet.

 Building Trust

Trust is showing confidence , faith, and hope to someone or in something. Many

people has too much of it and some other lacks to have it.

Nen is a transferee in Odias Elementary School. She is eleven years old and she is now in
Grade five. One day, when she is on her way to school she was called by her classmates.
“Come with us Nen”. “It is more fun going to school when you have somebody to talked
with”, Jhoyen said.

“Thank you Jhoyen, but I guess I’ll have it some other time”. “I need to drop by at Aling
Ester’s store because Mother told me to give this letter to her”, Nen replied.
“We can wait for you”, Beah insisted.
“ No!”, Nen shouted with a loud voice.

The two girls were surprised to Nen’s reaction. They thought maybe she’s not in the
mood or maybe she has a problem. In the school, during recess time, Jhoyen never hesitated
to approach Nen and asked what happened to her earlier.
“Do you have a problem with us? Don’t you like us to be your friends ?” “We felt
sorry if you think we’re forcing you to come with us this morning”, Beah said. “We just want
to make friends with you since you are new here in school”, Jhoyen added.
“I am sorry for how I acted this morning”, “I was just anxious”, Nen said.
“When I was in my previous school, I used to be bullied and teased by my classmates. It is
my way of defending myself”, she added.
“We are sorry for how you’ve been treated by other people”, Jhoyen and Beah said.
“Please know that we are different”, they added. “Sometimes you need to trust other people
too. It is where you will gain friends”. Beah added.

From then on, the three became the best of friends in their school.

 “ Unexpectedly a Leader”

One day, in the school of the animals called “Animalandia” the teacher called
all the animals for a meeting.
“Good morning everyone! Thank you all for coming . I called you up for an important
purpose. Our school needs to have a leader. Can anyone suggest?”, the teacher said.
“Me ! I can be a good leader. My friend frogs can help me get rid of all the insects
here in Animalandia. We can eat them! Kokak..kokak”, shouted the green frog.
“How can you be a leader? You are so small. Not everyone can see you. But , I can be
a leader. I am not afraid of anything and I am smart”, the white dog said.
“Wooh, You can’t be a leader. You are not as fast as me. I can fly and I can see you
all even on the tallest tree. I can take you anywhere you want to be …Tweet, tweet”,
said the red bird.
“ Oh stop it, quack.. quack. I can be a leader. I can lead you all just like how I lead my
ducklings”, the yellow duck said.
“Ewww..Not a duck. But a cat as sweet and as colorful as me can be a leader. I am
flexible and very alert. I can lead all of you.. meow.. meow”, said the purple cat.
“ I can be a leader. All the animals will surely love my shining, shimmering scales and
gills”, said the goldfish.
“You can’t be a leader. You are the smallest animal in here. But I can be the leader. I
am strong and tough. I can guard all the animals in Animalandia”, said the brown
bear.

“Baaa. Baaa.. I don’t want to be a leader. I am not good at it. I can just follow you”,
added the black sheep.

All the animals argued who will be the leader of their school. Suddenly, they
saw the dear helping the snail in climbing the tree. And so the teacher said…
“No need to argue. I could see we have a new leader. But from your group, you are
all proud of yourselves. You keep on boosting what you can do and others cannot.
None of you deserve to be a leader. But this little dear showed the quality of a true
leader”, the teacher said.

And so the purple cat, the goldfish and the red bird said, “Sorry everyone, sorry
teacher. We acted wrong”.
“We are sorry too”, said the green frog and the brown bear.
“ We apologize as well. We agree the dear can be a great leader.”, the black sheep and
the white dog added.
From then on the animals agreed to what the teacher said. From then on, they learn
their mistakes and learn how to become humble in everything they will do. An so they
all learn happily ever after.

Araw ng sabado. Madilim pa ay gumising na si Marjun. Sasama siya sa

kanyang ama patungo sa bukid. Tutulong siya sa pag-aalis ng damo sa tanim na palay.
Habang daan ay nagkukuwentuhan ang mag-ama. ‘’Anak, alam mo ba kung bakit kita

Nakarating ka na ba sa Lawa ng Tuhob? Naku! Dapat mapuntahan mo na ito
sa lalong madaling panahon. Sayang naman kung hindi mo mararanasan ang maligo
sa malinaw at kakaibang lamig ng tubig nito.
Alam mo ba na ito ay kilala na at dinarayo ng mga tao buhat pa sa iba’t-ibang

Ang Lawa ng Tuhob ay matatagpuan sa kabundukang sakop ng Baryo ng

baryo ng Bagong Lipunan. Kapag tag-init maaring makapasok ang mga motorsiklo
dito ngunit kapag tag-ulan kailangan mo lang itong lakarin dahil sobrang maputik ang
daan. Makipot din ang daan patungo rito kaya karamihan sa pumupunta dito ay
