    .In carnatic music mainly there are
    three octaves(Sthaayi) i.e

    1.Mandra sthaayi the lower octave.

    2.Madhya sthaayi the middle octave.

    3.Taara sthaayi the upper octave.

    of dhrutam is 0.Total count of Aadi taalam is 8.

    Laghu means counting the
    fingers and dhrutam means clapping and waving the the
    palm.Laghu=4,dhrutam=2
    Laghu=4,dhrutam=2 i.e 4+2+2=8.

    15th melakartha in number.
