    2. Form:
    Động từ tobe Động từ thường
    Positive (+) S + was/were + N/adi S + V(ed)/ irregular V
    Negative (−¿) S + was/ were + not + N/adj S + didn’t + V (nguyên)
    Y/N questions Was/ Were + S + N/adj? Did + S + V(nguyên)?
    Wh- questions Wh- was/ were + S + N/adj? Wh- did + S + V(nguyên)?
    * NOTE: Quy tắc thêm đuôi ED:
    −¿ Động từ tận cùng là E, chỉ cần thêm D

    Ex: type → typed; smile → smiled; agree → agreed


    −¿ Động từ 1 âm tiết, tận cùng bằng “Nguyên âm + phụ âm” (trừ h, w, x, y), gấp đôi phụ âm
    và thêm ED:
    Ex: stop → stopped; tap → tapped
    −¿ Động từ 2 âm tiết, trọng âm rơi vào âm tiết 2, tận cùng bằng “Nguyên âm + phụ âm”, gấp
    đôi phụ âm và thêm ED:
    Ex: transfer → transferred; commit → committed
    −¿ Động từ tận cùng là Y:

     Trước Y là 1 nguyên âm, cộng thêm ED:


    Ex: play  played; stay  stayed
     Trước Y là 1 phụ âm (còn lại), đổi Y thành I rồi cộng thêm ED:
    Ex: study  studied, cry  cried

    Exercise 1: Put the verb in the correct form:

    Exercise 2: Put the verb in the correct form to complete the story “Snow White”:
    Snow White was the daughter of a beautiful queen, who died when the girl (be) young. Her father
    (marry) again, but the girl’s stepmother was very jealous of her because she was so gorgeous.
    The evil queen (order) a hunter to kill Snow White but he couldn’t do it as she was so lovely. He
    (chase) her away instead, and she (take) refuge with seven dwarfs in their house in the forest. She
    (live) with the dwarfs and took care of them and they (love) her dearly.
    Then one day the talking mirror (tell) the evil queen that Snow White was still alive. She (change)
    herself into a witch and (make) a poisoned apple. She (go) to the dwarfs’ house disguised as an old
    woman and tempted Snow White to eat the poisoned apple, which (put) her into an everlasting
    sleep.
    Finally, a prince (find) her in the glass coffin where the dwarfs had put her and (wake) her up with
    a kiss. Snow White and the prince (be) married and lived happily ever after.
