Writing a literature review on community renewable energy can be a daunting task.

It requires
extensive research, critical analysis, and synthesis of existing literature to provide a comprehensive
overview of the topic. From identifying relevant sources to summarizing key findings, the process
demands careful attention to detail and a thorough understanding of the subject matter.

One of the biggest challenges in writing a literature review is the sheer volume of information
available. Sorting through numerous academic journals, books, reports, and other sources can be
overwhelming. Additionally, assessing the credibility and reliability of each source adds another
layer of complexity to the process.

Moreover, organizing the information in a coherent and logical manner requires skillful synthesis.
Writers must not only summarize individual studies but also identify common themes, trends, and
gaps in the literature. This involves critically evaluating the strengths and limitations of existing
research and offering insights into areas that warrant further investigation.

Furthermore, maintaining objectivity throughout the review is essential. Writers must present the
information impartially, without bias or personal opinion. This requires careful analysis and
interpretation of the evidence, ensuring that the review reflects the current state of knowledge on the
topic.

A variety of environmental, economic, and security concerns have arisen for preserving and nurturing
alternative energy options. Through the influence of electricity imports, sometimes there can be
considerable differences between a region’s production and consumption mixes. In recent years, the
budget for OPT has rebounded somewhat ( Figure 2-1 ), which shows the historical mix of funds for
renewable power technologies. Environmentally preferred and locally distributed energy supplies are
examples of new products that could accelerate commercial demands for OPT-developed
technologies. Pacific Islands Energy for Sustainable Development—USA. The review suggests that
although several topics have been covered by the existing literature, there are promising avenues for
future research on several fronts, both thematic and methodological. (1) Security of supply is
certainly a main factor in favor of the uptake of renewable energy sources in islands, if not the most
important driver. The budget line item for solar and renewable energy encompasses the majority of
OPT's programs. The results in Table 5 show that the environment and societal problems fram e is
more prominent in countries that use nuclear energy (12.1%) than in those that do not (6.1%).
However, concerning the economic and technological problems frame, no differences can be
observed. Active power Voltage Current Power losses are not considered. Converge to the optimal
solution where analytical methods do not converge. Optimization techniques in microgrid energy
management. Renewables are starting from a very low base, and will require enormous investment
before they can put a marked dent in their carbon counterparts’ dominance. Through this procedure,
we estimated the relevance of the available conventional energy resources for each country.
However, a given project should not only be sustainable according to the aforementioned three
dimensions. However, the benefits of renewables in terms of security of supply are assumed in the
literature rather than measured. Concerning the method used to carry out the review, the papers
included in this study were selected using the database Science Direct according to their
compatibility with the aim of this article (RES contributing to the sustainability of islands). This
paper describes a novel business model which used a Nash bargaining solution and neural network-
based method to increase payoff rate. In such an arrangement, PV panels purchased by a residential
house or the whole community would be installed on a plot of land or on rooftops, which could
supply the electricity needed by the community. Int Energy Agency, IEA. 2019. Available online:
(accessed on June 2019). Parhizi, S.; Lotfi, H.; Khodaei, A.; Bahramirad, S. State of the art in
research on microgrids: A review. In such an energy supply system, the consumer covers the costs of
electricity generation, network maintenance, as well as other components in the final bill, depending
on the policy provisions in each country or region. However, as some energy technologies were not
widely discussed in all countries, the number of articles obtained per technology varied considerably.
While four of these consumer interest aspects (i.e., business model, economic assessment, demand
response and energy management) can be described as interests for the consumers individually,
energy trading and consumer adoption are two of the aspects which unite all community participants.
In 18 of those configurations, the hybrid system had a significant impact on environmental
sustainability. Chapter 13 In: Sustainable Systems and Energy Management at the Regional Level:
Comparative Approaches. This study presents a flexible methodology to improve the contribution of
RES towards regional sustainability, through the implementation of an integrated RES project
selection and planning procedure which, from the early stages, can involve the local community and
regional authorities and calls for the support of public opinion (participatory planning). Next, we can
focus on innovations in community modelling using different variables and uncertainties. Garcia-
Cadena. Nova Science Publishers Eds., 317-336. Authors pointed out the need to change the current
information dissemination model in order to encourage wider consumer participation through various
methods. No less than four of the chapters mention the retroactive renewable electricity subsidy cuts
in Spain and the negative implications that this move by the cash-strapped Spanish government has
had on investor confidence. Remuneration and self-consumption can be mentioned as one of the
factors positively influencing the payback period of the PV community.
The line shows the range between minimum and maximum emissions of electricity production in all
countries which produce electricity with a certain technology in ecoinvent. This is especially the case
if the power stations are equipped with decent filters, as is commonplace in Europe, for instance.
However, in light of the incidents at Three Mile Island and Chernobyl, it was frequently reframed as
dangerous, and renewable energies were discussed as environmentally friendly alternatives (
Gamson and Modigliani, 1989 ). A combination of different types of RES ( i.e., so-called
hybridization) may also contribute in this regard. A management system model that takes the fee for
the PV energy into account was introduced, which includes the profits from the MG operator and a
utility model for the PV consumers. The researchers identify which wind projects satisfy the energy
target for 2010, which ones are economically feasible and the limitations in terms of grid access,
proximity to tourists sites and negative public opinion. Cases covering high and low irradiation, and
low wind were analyzed. The problem is solved using stochastic mixed-integer linear programming,
taking several factors such as loads and different sources of energy generation, costs, constraints,
grid topology, and local fees for energy into consideration. Electricity is vital to the delivery of social
services such as health, education, water and sanitation, and it enables job creation and frees time for
productive pursuits. To achieve their goals, private practitioners use a mix of qualitative and
quantitative valuation approaches in preparation for their firm’s all-important exit. The local
community could be beneficiated with their inclusion in the process of development the RES and
also it could revitalize the economy of underdeveloped community areas. While the economic and
technological problems frame is not connected with any moral evaluation of relevant actors, the
environmental and social problems frame is accompanied by a striking number of articles in which
actors are blamed for facilitating the implementation of renewable energies. An investment from an
institutional investor will not facilitate renewable cost declines (and future increases in renewables
investment) if it goes into things like equity security purchases. Game theory has been proposed for
some researchers to solve problems with conflicting objective functions. 3.10. Microgrid Operating
Modes A considerable number of papers have been published on interconnected microgrids, while
discussing various modes of microgrid operation. But even the combination of those intermittent
RES (wind and solar) could be beneficial in this regard. The figure also points out that the major part
of greenhouse gases from fossil electricity are emitted during the use phase (which is again in line
with literature). This section identifies the most relevant studies in this context. We started with a
hierarchical cluster analysis using Ward's method and Euclidean distance. Sign up for email

per cent of the electricity that comes out of the mains stems from coal, despite the fact there is not a
single coal power station on the island. In order to find an answer to this question, this article
reviews the scientific literature of recent years, which will be used to find solutions to the problems
related to RES and energy communities. And technology that has not been considered thus far such
as enhanced geothermal systems is to be included in ecoinvent from now on. Benefits of renewable
energy systems are stated in a political declaration agreed to by 154 nations at the 2004 International
Conference for Renewable Energies (2004), held in Bonn as a followup to the 2002 World Summit
on Sustainable Development, held in Johannesburg. Gauging the future competitiveness of
renewable energy in Colombia. These investors, with funds that can run into hundreds of billions of
dollars, face certain hurdles that must be overcome before more of the money they control can be
put to work in the service of building our renewable energy supply. Some of these programs are
focused on photovoltaic, wind, solar, thermal, geothermal, biopower, and hydroelectric energy
technologies; others are focused on energy storage, electric transmission (including
superconductivity), and hydrogen technologies. Not specified Battery degradation is not considered.
For example, fundamental discoveries in materials can make their way into applications, and the
experiences of those applications can prompt new directions in basic research so quickly, that the
traditional sequence breaks down. Gas turbine capacity Gas turbine emissions Number of possible
combinations of sizes is limited. Feature papers represent the most advanced research with significant
potential for high impact in the field. A Feature.
Renewables exploitation for energy production and biomass use for electricity generation. Bearing in
mind that an economic assessment review revealed that the solar community is an economically
viable system, a literature review on energy management determined whether solar energy would be
the best source of energy in the local community. This algorithm solves the load uncertainty and
distributed generators, along with the economic dispatch of the generating units. Power balance
Voltage in the transformers Deterministic conditions assumed are a limitation. According to the
aforementioned statement, the present paper provides a four-fold overview upon: renewables’
exploitation for energy production in the global and European contexts, as well as biomass
exploitation for electricity generation in a global-oriented and technology overview of the relevant
literature. These trends fundamentally changed the U.S. energy outlook, resulting in persistently low
natural gas prices and technology costs relative to other fuels and the current dominance of natural
gas-combined cycle units for new electric power generation projects. Proceedings of the 4 th
WSEAS International Conference on EMESEG 2011:107-110. In the 1970s, in the wake of the oil
embargo, policy was driven by energy security concerns. He has several years of strategic advisory
experience in the private sector (real asset development, consulting and private equity), and spent a
year crafting policy in a government role. We’ve got the technology and everyday we’re discovering
and learning new things. The issue of national energy security is becoming increasingly relevant due
to greater pressure to reduce carbon emissions and the concentration of fossil resources in countries
such as Russia, China and the Middle East ( Cox, 2016 ). A more detailed scheme of literature
selection methodology can be seen in Figure 2. The entire text, with the exception of a few eye-
glaze-inducing sections, is quite readable (perhaps reflecting the inclusion of many practitioners in its
author list), and can be moved through with relative ease. The impact of RES on the SD of islands
can be analyzed with either quantitative or qualitative approaches. This is precisely the type of
situation of many islands. First, we focus on the P2P market-related economic benefits. Thus, the
use of specific energy technologies is connected with conflicting interests, and the disputing groups
try to affect the media's framing of the issue in a favorable way to receive public support for their
objectives and interests. We hope that this article will both stimulate tourism researchers to delve
more deeply into renewable energy and motivate colleagues already involved in renewable energy to
direct more attention to tourism. Editor’s Choice articles are based on recommendations by the
scientific editors of MDPI journals from around the world. Electricity is vital to the delivery of social
services such as health, education, water and sanitation, and it enables job creation and frees time for
productive pursuits. Through the influence of electricity imports, sometimes there can be
considerable differences between a region’s production and consumption mixes. In addition, authors
concluded that the introduction of such a system is cost-effective on both a small and large scale.
The authors are grateful to four anonymous reviewers for their useful comments. They improve
access to energy for most of the population, they also reduce emissions of local and global pollutants
and they may create local socioeconomic development opportunities. This section contains a
selection of key portals curated by our global team. Lack of interconnections with the mainland
(whether electrical or through oil pipelines) makes them more vulnerable in this regard. This refers to
the application of various new and innovative modelling techniques able to provide the best design
and planning options for PV communities (depending on effects of multiple variables, such as cash
flows, solar irradiation, price fluctuations and other factors). OPT has only recently begun to explore
ways to redirect its programs to meet the strategic needs of the United States. As a result, a portfolio
with a maximum electricity output offered the highest return of investments and shortest payback
period, indicating that tariff policy plays the main role in determining economic aspects, but other
circumstances (such as physical, environmental and financial uncertainties) are less decisive as tariffs.
The review described in this subsection examines whether existing policies support the introduction
of the PV community and what kind of policy decisions would motivate consumers to become a
member of such a community.
