RPL 2024 - FORMAT

RPL 2024 Format of the Game


All Matches : 7 Overs per inning
Match Officials : Professional Umpires & Scorers
Number of Teams : 8 Teams

Match Schedule –
 All 8 teams will be in the same group.
 Each Team will play 3 League Matches randomly on the basis of cheats on match day or
1 day before match in presence of all the captains.
 Top 4 Teams according to points will qualify for Semi-final, if two teams have equal
point then the team having more run rate will qualify for Semi-final.
 For every ‘win’ team will get 2 points, and for draw each team will get 1- 1 point.
 If match gets draw in Semi- Final & Final, Super Over will be played.
 The team on 1st position will play match against 4th position team, and 2nd will play
against 3rd .
Prizes At Stake –
 WINNING TEAM - Exclusively Designed Trophy and medals for all players.
 RUNNERS-UP TEAM - Exclusively Designed Trophy and medals for all players

Individual Awards –
 Best Batsman
 Best Bowler
 Man of the Series
 Man of the Match (for each match)

RPL 2024 - MATCH RULES


1. Matches will be played with 8 players
2. Each team will play 3 league matches so as to qualify for the next round.
3. In an innings of 7 overs, only two bowlers can bowl maximum 2 overs.
4. The reporting time for every team 6: 30 am.
5. The toss will be held 30 minutes before the scheduled time of the match.
6. If team fails to report at the time of scheduled match, the team present may get walk over
as per the decision of the officials / referees. Further the team present will get full points
for this match. The absent team will be treated as 0 runs in 7 overs for the purpose of
calculation of run rate.
7. The Single tennis ball will be used for all matches. New ball will be taken for every match.

In case the ball is lost / unusable during the match, umpires will decide regarding the ball
to be used further.
8. Wide or No Ball will fetch 1 run. Full toss above waist will be termed as no ball and a free
hit will be given.
9. A box has been marked at the non-striker end. Bowler should bowl standing inside the
box between side lines and the stumps. Breaching this will be termed as No Ball with free
hit.
10. Bowler is not allowed to completely lift / side movement of the leg. Breaching this will be
termed as No Ball with free hit. Pause is required if the bowler is bowling with full arm
rotation, else it will be termed as No ball with Free hit. Slight bending of knees during or
before bowling is allowed.
11. If the ball directly hits the net above the head, and catch is taken by the fielder than it will
given as out, and if the ball hits the side net and catch is taken then it will be given as not
out.
12. For hitting a six, the batsmen have to hit the ball directly to the net behind the bowler, if
the ball touches the side net or the above net and touches the boundary i.e. net behind
the bowler then it will be given as four runs.
13. Bouncer rule
a. Bouncer above shoulder but below head height will be the first allowed bouncer (first
warning).
b. If the first bouncer goes above head, it will be called as wide ball along with first
warning.
c. If the second bouncer goes above shoulder, it will be called as a No-Ball and a free hit
will be given.
14. Magic Over –
Batting side will decide weather 4th or 5th over to be taken as magic over, where runs
will be doubled, but for every wicket score will be minus by 5 runs.
15. Runner will not be allowed.
16. One substitute can be done during the match at any time out of remaining players of the
team, the substituted player cannot be part of the same match again.
17. No batting side player including captain is allowed to enter the ground. If he has any
query, he will discuss the same with referees and they will convey it to on Field umpires.
18. Umpires & referee Committee will take final decision on any dispute. Only Captain of
each team is authorized to discuss with the Umpires & Referee.
19. Timings of matches need to be strictly adhered too. Teams are requested to report at
least 45 minutes before scheduled matches. All requested to adhere to the timings so
that matches can be smoothly organized causing minimum delays inconveniencies.
20. Only Captains are allowed to discuss with the Umpires and Match Referee’s in case of
any dispute. All decisions of the Umpires & Match Referee’s shall be final & binding on
all the participating teams.
21. Inauguration ceremony will be at 6:30 AM on the venue. It will be the responsibility of
all the Captains to ensure that their entire team should be present at the inauguration

ceremony.
22. All the ICC cricket rules will be followed except mentioned herein, and there will be no
LBW.
