COURSE TITLE: PROJECT EVALUATION
TIME ALLOWED: 21/2 HOURS
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Attempt Question One (1) and any other three (3) questions
2. Question 1 carries 25 marks, while the other questions carry 15 marks each.
3. Present all points in coherent and orderly manner
1. Discuss any five (5) requirements for siting an operations facility. (25 marks)
2. Project execution will hardly end exactly as it was planned due to various uncertainties in
actual situation as against estimates. Explain how problems arising from uncertainties in
project scheduling can be tackled. (15 marks)
4. One of the current ways of solving the capacity problem in operations is the concept of
external capacity. Please discuss this concept, identifying at least one (1) major advantage
and one (1) major disadvantage. (15 marks)
5. A project income statement is usually produced as part of the project feasibility and
viability report. Explain the importance of this statement. (15 marks)
6. With reference to project evaluation under the PERT model, explain the following:
i. Critical path
ii. Slack
iii. Activity node
iv. Lead time
v. Predecessor (5 marks each = 15 marks)
