SAP Extended Warehouse

Management
Process Oriented Storage Control
Storage Control
• Storage Control in EWM is the technique the
system uses to determine the process steps
required to perform product movements in
the warehouse.
• The goal of Storage Control is to process
complex put-away or stock removal process
steps in the warehouse based on the
warehouse processes or the physical layout of
the warehouse.
Continued…
In addition to the basic process of receiving a product quantity
putting it away in a storage bin, many warehouses have additional
processing requirements depending on the nature of the products
being managed.

These processes include:

• Unloading
• Counting
• Quality Inspection
• Deconsolidation (unpacking into individual HUs)
• Kitting
• Value added services
Types of Storage Control
In EWM products can be put-away directly or
through the use of Storage Control.
There are two forms of storage control:
1. Process-oriented
2. Layout-oriented
• You can also use a combination of process-
oriented as well as layout-oriented methods for
storage control.
• Here, EWM always executes the process-oriented
storage control first.
• POSC works only with Handling Units.
