1. 1st March is celebrated as zero discrimination day 2024, Established by UNAIDS


Theme 2024 - “To protect everyone’s health, protect everyone’s rights.”
2. 129th Birth Anniversary of PM Morarji Desai, He was the Prime Minister of
India from 1977-79. Born on 29th February, 1896 in Gujarat. In 1952, he
became the Chief Minister of Bombay.
3. India ranked 42 in the Global Intellectual Property Index 2024, out of 55
countries, using 50 distinct criteria, United States emerged at the top of the list
followed by United Kingdom and France.
4. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will release the 16th installment of Pradhan
Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme worth over 21,000 crore
rupees at a public meeting from Yavatmal, Maharashtra, 3 lakh crores rupees
have been deposited till now into the bank accounts of 11 crore farmers,
PM-KISAN.

3. India - Malaysia Bilateral Maritime Exercise ‘Samudra Laksamana’, Indian

4. IPS officer Daljit Singh Chawdhary appointed as new Director General of NSG.
(National Security Guard) - India’s counter terrorism force.
Commonly known as Black Cats, is a counter-terrorism unit of India under the
Ministry of Home Affairs. It formally came into existence in 1986 by ‘National
Security Guard Act, 1986’, following Operation Blue Star.
5. Union Cabinet approved the establishment of International Big Cat Alliance
(IBCA) with headquarters in India, so far 16 of 96 ‘big cat’ countries have
signed, Out of the seven big cats (tiger, lion, leopard, snow leopard, puma,
jaguar and cheetah), barring the puma and jaguar, the rest 5 are found in India.
6. Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Bhupender Yadav
released the report on Status of Leopards in India 2022. The fifth cycle leopard
population estimation was carried out by the National Tiger Conservation
Authority and Wildlife Institute of India according to the report there is a
1.08% per annum growth in leopard population.
7. Cooperation Minister Amit Shah launched the National Urban Co-operative
Finance and Development Corporation Limited (NUCFDC), the Umbrella
organisation for the Urban Cooperative Banks in New Delhi. This initiative aims
to modernise and strengthen the Urban Cooperative Banking Sector, which will
benefit both the banks and their customers.
8. The Ministry of Women and Child Development Organizes ‘Poshan Utsav:
Celebrating Nutrition’ in Delhi. The event was graced by the Union Minister for
Women and Child Development and Minority Affairs, Smt. Smriti Zubin Irani and
Mr. Bill Gates, Co-Chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF).
Poshan Utsav, conceived as a celebratory fair under the POSHAN Abhiyaan (Prime
Minister's Overarching Scheme for Holistic Nutrition) launched by Prime Minister
Modi in 2018.
9. In the spirit of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat, the Minister of Minority Affairs
Smriti Zubin Irani launched the revamped Jiyo Parsi Programme at New Delhi.
10. 9th SHAKTI International Women Entrepreneurs Summit, An annual
Conference on the occasion of International Women’s Day to promote
entrepreneurship amongst women.

after President Droupadi Murmu, which is found nowhere in the world, is
named as Melanochlamys droupadi. belonging to Melanochlamys genus was
discovered from West Bengal and Odisha coast.
2. Former Canadian PM Brian Mulroney dies at age of 84.
3. 3 March - World Wildlife Day 2024, Theme - "Connecting People and Planet:
Exploring Digital Innovation in Wildlife Conservation", World Wildlife Day was
first proposed by Thailand to the UN General Assembly in 2013.
CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and
Flora) was signed on this day in 1973. CITES is a global agreement to ensure that
international trade in specimens of wild animals and plants does not threaten their
survival.
4. 3 March - World Hearing Day 2024, first recognised by WHO in 2007. Theme
for 2024 - “Changing mindsets: Let's make ear and hearing care a reality for all”
World Health Organization (WHO), Established in 1948 is a specialized agency of the
United Nations Connects nations, partners and people to promote health.

5. Chapchar Kut - the biggest festival of Mizoram was celebrated across the state

Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PMJAY)
Launched on 23rd September, 2018 in Ranchi, Jharkhand by PM Modi
(PM-JAY) is the world’s largest health insurance/ assurance scheme fully financed by
the government.
7. National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) under the aegis of the Ministry of
Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE) and Bajaj Finserv Ltd. launched
their first skill development initiative - Project Odiserv.
8. First-ever Made-in-India ASTDS tug ‘ Ocean Grace’ at Paradip Port
ASTDS - Approved Standard Tug Design and Specifications, Sarbananda Sonowal,
Union Minister of MoPSW & AYUSH inaugurated the 60T bollard pull tug named
‘Ocean Grace’ and the Medical Mobile Unit (MMU).
Paradip Port It is a natural, deep-water port on the East coast of India in Paradip. It is
at the confluence of the Mahanadi and the Bay of Bengal it is the first major port in the
East Coast commissioned after independence.

4. Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya inaugurates Greenfield Projects under PLI
Scheme for Bulk Drugs and Medical Devices.
5. Flipkart has launched its own Unified Payments Interface (UPI) services in
collaboration with Axis Bank. The facility is called Flipkart UPI.
6. India and Nicaragua signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on
Pharmacopoeia on cooperation in the field of the regulation of medicines.
Pharmacopeia (A book describing chemicals, drugs, and other substances and how
they are used as medicines), Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC) is an
autonomous institution under the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The IP
has been recognised as a book of standard by five nations - Afghanistan, Ghana,
Nepal, Mauritius and Suriname.

9. Cuttack’s famous ‘Chandi Tarakasi’ or silver filigree has been granted the
Geographical Indication (GI) tag. According to historians, there is every
possibility that the Tarakasi work reached Cuttack from Persia through
Indonesia some 500 years ago by sea trade.

The average monthly per capita consumption expenditure (MPCE) in Indian
households rose since 2011-12 by 33.5% in urban households (to ₹3,510)

8. Krystyna Pyszkova from Czech Republic crowned Miss World, The 71st Miss
World pageant, held at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai, saw

9. PM Modi inaugurates Sela Tunnel connecting Assam to Arunachal, Sela Tunnel
is constructed by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) at an altitude of 13,000
feet on the road hence making it the world’s longest bi-lane tunnel at an
altitude above 13,000 ft, The Sela Tunnel has been constructed using the new
Austrian Tunnelling Method.
10. Samudrayaan mission is aimed at sending 3 personnel to 6000- meter depth in a
vehicle called ‘MATSYA 6000’ for the exploration of deep-sea resources.
The submersible vessel is being developed by Chennai's National Institute of Ocean
Technology (NIOT). So far, countries such as the US, Russia, China, France and Japan
have carried out successful deep-ocean crewed missions.

Sickle cell disease

of sickle cell disease.

ancient streams of stars - named after the Hindu deities Shakti and Shiva - that
appear to be among the Milky Way's earliest building blocks, offering new
insight into how our galaxy came together long ago.
These structures were found using observations from the European Space Agency's
Gaia space telescope, Gaia, launched in 2013, is assembling the largest and most
precise three-dimensional map of the Milky Way.

company, headquartered in Bangalore. Established on 23 December 1940, HAL is one
of the oldest and largest aerospace and defense manufacturers in the world.
8. Skyroot Aerospace, a space-tech company, has successfully test-fired the
Stage-2 of Vikram-1 space launch vehicle, called Kalam-250.
Vikram-1 is a three-stage, solid-fuel based rocket. Testing of the “second stage” is
significant because this stage propels satellites from the dense atmosphere of Earth to
the deep vacuum of outer space.
9. Scientists have revealed that the colossal 1.8 km wide crater nestled in
Gujarat's Kutch region could be the outcome of one of the most monumental
asteroid crashes ever witnessed on Earth.
10. Lawmakers in Thailand's lower house of Parliament approved a marriage
equality bill that would make the country the first in Southeast Asia to legalize
equal rights for marriage partners of any gender.

Released by the Institute for HumanDevelopment (IHD) & International Labour
Organisation (ILO), According to the report the ‘Employment Condition Index’ of states
have improved from 2004-05 to 2021-22.
States like Delhi, Telangana, Uttarakhand, HImachal Pradesh and Gujarat have stayed
on the top of the index. While states like Bihar, Odisha, Jharkhand and UP have
remained at the bottom of the list.
The Labor force participation rate (LFPR) in India for individuals aged 15 years and
older was 55.2% in 2022, which was lower than the world average of 59.8%.
