after President Droupadi Murmu, which is found nowhere in the world, is
named as Melanochlamys droupadi. belonging to Melanochlamys genus was
discovered from West Bengal and Odisha coast.
2. Former Canadian PM Brian Mulroney dies at age of 84.
3. 3 March - World Wildlife Day 2024, Theme - "Connecting People and Planet:
Exploring Digital Innovation in Wildlife Conservation", World Wildlife Day was
first proposed by Thailand to the UN General Assembly in 2013.
CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and
Flora) was signed on this day in 1973. CITES is a global agreement to ensure that
international trade in specimens of wild animals and plants does not threaten their
survival.
4. 3 March - World Hearing Day 2024, first recognised by WHO in 2007. Theme
for 2024 - “Changing mindsets: Let's make ear and hearing care a reality for all”
World Health Organization (WHO), Established in 1948 is a specialized agency of the
United Nations Connects nations, partners and people to promote health.

Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PMJAY)
Launched on 23rd September, 2018 in Ranchi, Jharkhand by PM Modi
(PM-JAY) is the world’s largest health insurance/ assurance scheme fully financed by
the government.
7. National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) under the aegis of the Ministry of
Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE) and Bajaj Finserv Ltd. launched
their first skill development initiative - Project Odiserv.
8. First-ever Made-in-India ASTDS tug ‘ Ocean Grace’ at Paradip Port
ASTDS - Approved Standard Tug Design and Specifications, Sarbananda Sonowal,
Union Minister of MoPSW & AYUSH inaugurated the 60T bollard pull tug named
‘Ocean Grace’ and the Medical Mobile Unit (MMU).
Paradip Port It is a natural, deep-water port on the East coast of India in Paradip. It is
at the confluence of the Mahanadi and the Bay of Bengal it is the first major port in the
East Coast commissioned after independence.

Nations Climate Change Conference held in Paris.
6. INAS 334 'SEAHAWKS’ was commissioned in the presence of Adm R Hari Kumar,
the Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), at INS Garuda, Southern Naval Command, Kochi.
7. The Union Cabinet approved a four percent hike in dearness allowance for
central government employees and dearness relief for pensioners.
8. President Droupadi Murmu has nominated educator, author, and
philanthropist Sudha Murty to the Rajya Sabha.
Article 80 of the Constitution has provisions for members of the Rajya Sabha.
Rajya Sabha should consist of not more than 250 members - 238 elected and 12
nominated by the President.
9. India's largest oil company, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOC), unveiled 'Storm'
petrol that it will supply for the Asian region motorcycle road racing
championship.
10. Prez Murmu presents President's Standard and Colours to four IAF Units at Air
Force Station, at Air Force Station in Hindon, Uttar Pradesh.
The President's Standard is awarded after 18 years of service and the President's
Colours award after 25 years of service.
11. Cabinet Approves IndiaAI Mission with Rs. 10,372 Crore Budget
One of the key areas of focus within the mission is establishing high end computing
capacity (high-end scalable AI computing ecosystem) in the country.

7. 10 March - International Day of Women Judges.
8. Krystyna Pyszkova from Czech Republic crowned Miss World, The 71st Miss
World pageant, held at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai, saw
participation from 112 countries.
9. PM Modi inaugurates Sela Tunnel connecting Assam to Arunachal, Sela Tunnel
is constructed by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) at an altitude of 13,000
feet on the road hence making it the world’s longest bi-lane tunnel at an
altitude above 13,000 ft, The Sela Tunnel has been constructed using the new
Austrian Tunnelling Method.
10. Samudrayaan mission is aimed at sending 3 personnel to 6000- meter depth in a
vehicle called ‘MATSYA 6000’ for the exploration of deep-sea resources.
The submersible vessel is being developed by Chennai's National Institute of Ocean
Technology (NIOT). So far, countries such as the US, Russia, China, France and Japan
have carried out successful deep-ocean crewed missions.

3. India & European Free Trade Association (EFTA) countries (Liechtenstein,
Iceland, Norway & Switzerland) signed a trade & economic partnership
agreement to open up their markets to each other. As part of the deal, the EFTA
countries have committed to invest $100 billion in India over the next 15 years.
4. Devendra Jhajharia Becomes New President of Paralympic Committee of India
Double Paralympic gold medallist javelin thrower Devendra Jhajharia was elected as
the President of the Paralympic Committee of India (PCI).
5. Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty lifted the French Open badminton
crown for the second time with a dominating straight game win over Taiwan
(Chinese Taipei).
6. Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) conducted India’s
first successful flight test of the indigenously developed Agni-V missile, Agni is
a long-range missile. It is India’s first intercontinental land based ballistic
missile with a range of over 5,000 km.
7. Bichom, carved out of West and East Kameng, became the 27th district of
Arunachal Pradesh.

10. PM Modi Unveils Bronze Statue of Ahom General Lachit Borphukan in Assam’s
Jorhat. The ‘Statue of Valour’ , 125-foot bronze statue of the legendary Ahom
general, Lachit Borphukan, at his burial site in eastern Assam’s Jorhat district.
11. India’s golden langur population rises at 7,396. The previous population
estimation in 2008-09, recorded 6,000 golden langurs in India.
The entire distribution range of the golden langur (Trachypithecus geei) covers the
Manas Biosphere Reserve and all fragmented forests in the western part of Assam.
12. Kishor Makwana assumes charge of Chairman National Commission for
Scheduled Castes (NCSC).

9. Air Quality Report 2023: New Delhi World’s Most Polluted Capital City For 4th
Consecutive Year.
As per the report titled, ‘World Air Quality Report 2023’ by the Swiss organization
IQAir. India was the world’s third most air polluted country in 2023 out of 134
countries, after Bangladesh and Pakistan. In 2022, India ranked 8th out of 131
countries.
10. India ranked 62 on the DHL Connectedness Index.
DHL Global Connectedness Report 2024 released by DHL and New York University’s
Stern School of Business, Singapore is the world’s most globally connected country,
followed by the Netherlands and Ireland.
11. India ranks 126 in the UN World Happiness Report, The findings published
annually on the United Nations’ International Day of Happiness, Finland as the
happiest country for the seventh consecutive year.

7. Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) successfully completed the first flight of
indigenous light combat aircraft (LCA) Tejas Mark 1A fighter jet in Bengaluru.
Hindustan Aeronautics Limited is an Indian public sector aerospace and defense
company, headquartered in Bangalore. Established on 23 December 1940, HAL is one
of the oldest and largest aerospace and defense manufacturers in the world.
8. Skyroot Aerospace, a space-tech company, has successfully test-fired the
Stage-2 of Vikram-1 space launch vehicle, called Kalam-250.
Vikram-1 is a three-stage, solid-fuel based rocket. Testing of the “second stage” is
significant because this stage propels satellites from the dense atmosphere of Earth to
the deep vacuum of outer space.
9. Scientists have revealed that the colossal 1.8 km wide crater nestled in
Gujarat's Kutch region could be the outcome of one of the most monumental
asteroid crashes ever witnessed on Earth.
10. Lawmakers in Thailand's lower house of Parliament approved a marriage
equality bill that would make the country the first in Southeast Asia to legalize
equal rights for marriage partners of any gender.
So far Taiwan and Nepal are the only countries in asia to recognise same sex marriage.

3. Vaikom Satyagraha, the non-violent agitation against untouchability in Kerala
lasted for 603 days. It was held for the right of backward communities to travel
through the public road leading to Vaikom Mahadeva Temple at Kottayam
district in Kerala.
4. Rohan Bopanna and his Australian partner Matthew Ebden won the men's
doubles final of the Miami Open.
5. Girija Subramanian and Bhhupesh Sushil Rahul are appointed as the CMD
(Chief Managing Director) of New India Assurance and United India Insurance
respectively.
6. India Employment Report 2024.
Released by the Institute for HumanDevelopment (IHD) & International Labour
Organisation (ILO), According to the report the ‘Employment Condition Index’ of states
have improved from 2004-05 to 2021-22.
States like Delhi, Telangana, Uttarakhand, HImachal Pradesh and Gujarat have stayed
on the top of the index. While states like Bihar, Odisha, Jharkhand and UP have
remained at the bottom of the list.
The Labor force participation rate (LFPR) in India for individuals aged 15 years and
older was 55.2% in 2022, which was lower than the world average of 59.8%.
7. President Droupati Murumu awarded Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian
honor to:

● Former Prime Minister Chaudary Charan Singh, belated.
● Agriculture scientist M.S. Swaminathan, belated.

● Two-time former Bihar chief minister Karpoori Thakur, belated.

Bharat Ratna is the highest civilian award of the nation, established in 1954 on the
advice of India's first President, De.Rajendra Prasad. The recommendation of Bharat
Ratna is made by the Prime minister to the President of India.
Dr. Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman, C. Rajagopalachari, Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan,
were the first to receive the Bharat Ratna in 1954.
