Feathers
If you look at the finished piece, you’ll see that you have 4 rounds of remining front-loops.
We are now going to crochet the ”feathers” on those front loops. Join the color of the
plumage in the FIRST front loop of round 21 and crochet 1 slst.
Crochet *3 dc + 1 picot stitch on top of the previous dc + 2 dc all in the same front loop,
then crochet 1 slst in the following 3 front loops*. Repeat the instructions between ** till
you have worked in all the remaining front loops.
5/12
Picot stitch = chain 3. Then crochet one sc on the first of those stitches (third chain from
hook). Continue with the following stitches.
NOTE: You can cut the yarn and close after each round or you can jump to the next
round by crocheting 2 chain stitches.

20. Crochet 27 sc and 1 sc in each chain stitch of the 9-ch chain (36)

Break the yarn and close the remaining stitches through the front loops. Weave in ends.
Neck
Place the head upside down and join the beige yarn in the first stitch next to the chain we
made to divide the head.
3. to 25. Crochet 12 sc

Using a pair of pliers, make a loop on one of the ends of the craft wire or pipe cleaner and
place it inside the neck. Surround it with soft stuffing. Once you are done crocheting the
neck, cut the wire to size and make a loop on the other end with the pliers.
26. Press the opening of the neck with your fingers and crochet together, with sc, both
opposing sides (6).

sc in any one stitch of the piece. Then crochet further 5 sc more along finger 2. Now
crochet 1 sc on the other side of finger 1 and then further 2 sc more. Finally, work on
finger 3 and crochet 6 sc. Total stitches: 18
7. Crochet 15 sc
Fasten off yarn, close the remaining stitches through the front loops and weave in ends.
Assembly
- Sew the neck to the plumage, securing it also with some stitches along the length of the
neck, so it remains upright.
- Stuff the beak a bit and sew it to the head. With a bit of black yarn embroider the eyes
and with pink yarn embroider the cheeks.
- Using the long initial tail you left in round 1 of the leg, flatten the opening and close it
with a few stitches using your tapestry needle.
- Sew the leg to the base of the plumage, close to the edge, so it can sit properly.
- “Arrange” the feathers a bit, pushing each feather from its center with your fingers from
below.
11/12
- Weave in all ends inside the body of your doll.
Done! Congratulations!
