1 History
Dell Inc. is an international company which is known for develping and de-
signing of personal computers and computer related products.This company
started its business with name ”PC’s Limited” . Michael Dell, who was an
American student in University of Texas founded it in 1984.The company
released The Turbo Pc in 1985 which was 1st computer featuring Dell’s own
design.[2]

The logo of Dell company also changed in different years. Logo and corre-
sponding year is shown in following figure

2 Organogram
Organogram of Dell consist of follwing key elements [5]

2.1 Board of Directors


It is responsible for providing strategic guidelines to the company. It includes
both internal and external executives and directors with diverse expertise.

2.2 Executive Leadership Team


This includes top level executive who oversee the operations and strategic
direction of company. The positions include CEO,COO,CFO for various
divisons or regions.

2.3 Divisions
Dell have several business units or divisions which focus on product lines,
services or customer segment.

2.4 Regional Organization


This includes regional presidents and vice presidents to serve customer in
better way and to understand the local dynamics of market.

2.5 Support function


To make the operations of company possible Dell includes many support
functions in organization. These support functions are legal, finance, supply
chain, corporate communication functions.

2.6 Matrix Structure
In larger business Dell also utilize Matrix structure where employees report
to functional managers and project managers.

3 Mission Statement
The mission statement of Dell is , Dell’s mission is to be the most successful
computer company in the world at delivering the best customer experience
in markets we serve. In doing so, Dell will meet customer expectations of:
• Highest quality
• Leading technology
• Competitive pricing
• Individual and company accountability
• Best-in-class service and support
• Flexible customization capability
• Superior corporate citizenship
• Financial stability [6]

4 vision Statement
Dell company have no clear cut vision statement but in customer help they
provide a general statement which is :
”For more than 28 years, Dell has empowered countries, communities, cus-
tomers and people everywhere to use technology to realize their dreams.
Customers trust us to deliver technology solutions that help them do and
achieve more, whether they’re at home, work, school or anywhere in their
world.”[7]

5 Management Approach
Key aspects of Dell’s management approach are :

5.1 Customer-Centric Focus


Dell keeps a great focus to fulfil the need if its diverse customer base.This
helps Dell in development of product, offer services and support that fulfils
customers requirements.

5.2 Direct Sales Model


Dell has policy to sale products directly to customers, bypassing interme-
diaries. This helps Dell to come in close relationship with customers and

enables to quickly respond the market demand.

5.3 Innovation in Technology


Dell Invests in research to innovate their products. This helps company to
stay ahead of competitors.

5.4 Supply chain Efficiency


Dell is well recognized for its efficient supply chain management. The com-
pany closely look at their supply chain operations to reduce cost and time of
delivery.

5.5 Global Presence and Localization


With a global presence Dell also recognizes the importance of local context.
It helps dell to serve the diverse customers worldwide.

5.6 Diversity in Portfolio and services


To address the diverse customer Dell provides diverse portfolio according to
the requirements of the customers of a particular industry or a sector.

5.7 Continuous improvement and adaptation


Dell continuously seek opportunities for improvement and adaptation accord-
ing to market dynamics.[4]

6 Organization Culture
Dell has developed a strong and unique organization culture. Employees are
encouraged to set goals and take the ownership of their work. Dell emphasize
on team work and collaboration to achieve common goals. Dell also invests
on employee development and growth. Company provides opportunities for
learning, training and career advancement.
