DTC P0717 TURBINE SPEED SENSOR CIRCUIT NO

SIGNAL

CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
O/D Direct Clutch Drum The O/D direct clutch speed sensor (NC0) detects the rotation
speed of the O/D input shaft from the rotation of the O/D direct
clutch drum. Its construction is the same as that of the No. 2 ve-
hicle speed sensor (SP2).
By comparing the O/D direct clutch speed sensor (NC0) signal
with the No. 2 vehicle speed sensor (SP2) signal, the ECM de-
tects the shift timing of the gears and appropriately controls the
O/D Direct Clutch
engine torque and hydraulic pressure in response to various
Speed Sensor (NC0)
G23741 conditions, thus achieving smooth gear shift.

DTC No. DTC Detection Condition Trouble Area

All conditions below are detected for 5 sec. or more
(2 trip detection logic):
(a) Gear change not being performed
(b) Gear position: 1st, 2nd or 3rd S Open or short in O/D direct clutch speed sensor (NC0) circuit
P0717 (c) Transmission input shaft rpm: 300 rpm or less S O/D direct clutch speed sensor (NC0)
(d) Transmission output shaft rpm: 500 rpm or more S ECM
(e) Park/neutral position switch: OFF
(f) Shift solenoid valves S1, S2, SL and vehicle speed sensor
(SP1) are operating normally

MONITOR DESCRIPTION
The input speed sensor (NC0) detects the transmission input shaft speed. The ECM determines the gear
shift timing based on a comparison of the input speed sensor (NC0) (input shaft speed) with the output speed
sensor (output shaft speed).
When the output shaft speed is higher than the expected value and the input shaft speed is 300 rpm or less
while the vehicle is running with the shift lever on D, the ECM will conclude that there is a malfunction in the
input speed sensor (NC0). The ECM will illuminate the MIL and set the DTC.
