The Industrial Hygienist (IH) carries out more detailed
studies of incidents; prepares recommendations and
other reports, reviews new processes, machinery, and
layouts. They advise management about health hazards,
industrial hygiene practices ,procedures, and equipment.
IH CON’T
The IH is responsible for the IH program
Examine the workplace
Make appropriate measurements
Interprets the results of the examinations and
measurements.
Makes decisions on control methods
Conduct programs, education and training for workers .
IH CON’T
Prepares rules, regulations, standards, and procedures
for the healthful conduct of work and nuisance in the
community.
Prepare appropriate text for labels and precautionary
materials and products to be used by workers.
Conduct epidemiological studies of workers to discover
the presence of occupational diseases.
IH CON’T
IH must work well with other professionals, such as
physicians, nurses, safety professionals, toxicologist, ,
health physicists, and others.
They must also communicate and work closely with
employees and management.
IH CON’T
Present expert testimony before courts of law, hearing
boards, worker’s compensation commissions, regulatory
agencies, and legally appointed bodies.
