I. LEARNING OBJECTIVES / AIMS

By the end of this English class, students will be able to demonstrate a comprehensive
understanding of the past perfect tense, including its formation, usage, and the ability to
apply it effectively in both written and spoken communication.

A: LEAD-IN/PREPARATION: (Timing: 5 minutes)

Lead-in:
PRE-TASK Introduce the task by using a video that is related to the topic.
ELICITING
Then we watch a video, and we answer some questions:
1. What is happening in the video?
2. What happened first, Taylor won an award or Kanye interrupted her?
3. What tense are we going to use in this activity?

5. PRE-TASK introduces the task: Read the sentence that we have as
an example ACTIVITIES
6. Then we decompose it, the verb it has, the tense, the auxiliary verb.

I. TASK B: Complete the sentences.
7. PRE-TASK introduces the task: Complete the sentences with the
form of past perfect tense that we going to use

discuss the first exercise

parenthesis to the whole class.

II. TASK C: Rewrite the sentences
1. The teacher introduces the exercise, rewrite these
sentences and see which of them is going to be in
past perfect and which one is going to be in simple
past.
2. We are going to give them 5 minutes in the
breakout rooms to do the exercise
3. They come back and they are going to do the
exercise one by one until we are finished with it (5
minutes)
III. TASK D: QUIZZIZ
At the end of the class to check the understanding of our students we are
going to do a quizziz of 10 questions about the past perfect, when to use
and if they know the participle form of some very common verbs that they
are going to be using in a daily conversation
C: WRAP-UP
At the end of the class the students will be able to formulate sentences in past
perfect, to share their sentences with their classmates and also to answer
questions relates to the past perfect tense. We started the class trying to
formulate what has happened in this case and how we can use the past perfect.
Then we had many examples to help us create our own stories and help to
recognize when we are using past perfect and when to use simple present.
