2) The area covered by a square with sides of length 1m is 1sq.m. How many tiles of area 1m sq. m.
will cover the figure given below?

A) 32 sq.cm B) 14 sq.cm C) 28 sq.cm D) 34 sq.cm

3) There are different shapes formed by matchsticks as shown. The length of each matchstick is 1
unit. Which of the following is true?

A) The perimeter of all shape is same

B) The perimeter of shape 2 is the least
C) The perimeter of shape 4 is the least
D) We cannot say for sure
4) Luke bought two pens that cost Rs 14.50. If she pays with a 50-rupee note, how much change
would she get?
1
A)5 rupee 50 paise B) Rs 20 C) Rs 13 D) Rs 34

Section -B

Answer the following

5) Josh bought a notebook that costs AED 12.87 and a pencil that costs AED 5.50 cheaper than the
notebook. How much money does he pay altogether?

Cost of the notebook = 12.87 AED

Cost of the pencil = 12.87 – 5.50
Cost of the pencil = 7.37 AED
Total money spent = 12.87 + 7.37
= 20.24 AED
He paid a total amount of 20.24 AED

6) Tessa had five 20 AED notes and four 10 AED notes in her purse. She bought vegetables for AED 50.How much
money was left in her purse?

Five 20 AED notes = 5 x 20 = 100 AED

Four 10 AED notes = 4 x10 = 40 AED
Total money with her = 100 + 40 = 140 AED
Tessa bought vegetables for 50 AED
Money left with Tessa = 140 – 50
= 90 AED
90 AED was left in Tessa’s purse
6) The area of rectangle is 42 sq. m. If its breadth is 6 m. Find the length of the rectangle.
Area = 42 sq. m breadth= 6 m
Area of rectangle = length x width
Length = Area ÷ width
= 42 ÷ 6

2
Length = 7 m

7) The perimeter of a rectangle is 36 m. If its length is 9m . Find the breadth of the rectangle.
Perimeter =36 m, length= 9m
Length + breadth = Perimeter ÷ 2
9 + breadth = 36 ÷ 2
9 + breadth = 18
Breadth = 18 -9
Breadth = 9m

Section-C
Answer the following
8) A carpet is laid on a rectangular floor of length 9 meters and breadth 6 meters. This leaves a
margin of width 1 meter round the carpet. Find the area and perimeter of the carpet.

Length of the floor = 9m, Length of carpet = 9 -2 = 7m

Breadth of the floor = 6m, Breadth of the carpet = 6 – 2 = 4m
Area of carpet = length x breadth
=7x4
= 28 sq.m
Perimeter of carpet = 2 x length + 2 x breadth
=2x7+2x4
= 14 + 8
= 22m

(or)
Calculate the area of a rectangle if its breadth is 8 cm and length is 3 times it breadth.

3
Area=l x b
B=8cm , l=3x b=3x 8=24cm
A=24 x 3= 96 sq.cm

10) If a quadrilateral has only one pair of opposite parallel sides, which of the following types of
quadrilateral could it NOT be classified as?
A) Trapezium B) Parallelogram C) None of the above D) All of the above

12) Which triangle does not belong in this set?

A) P B)Q C)R D)S

9) In which of the following cases opposite sides will be both parallel and equal to each other?
I ) Rhombus II) Parallelogram III) Rhombus

4
Section-E

Answer the following question

13) Max says, “Every parallelogram is a rectangle”. His friend Paul says, “Every rectangle is a
parallelogram”. Who is right? Justify?

Paul is correct because all rectangles have all the properties of parallelograms but a parallelogram
may not have all the properties of a rectangle.

14) A pouch contains 6 blue pens, 2 orange pens, and 5 black pen and you ask a friend to pick one
without looking. Write the formula used and find the likelihood of getting a blue pen.

𝑁𝑢𝑚𝑏𝑒𝑟 𝑜𝑓 𝑓𝑎𝑣𝑜𝑟𝑎𝑏𝑙𝑒 𝑜𝑢𝑡𝑐𝑜𝑚𝑒𝑠

Probability = 𝑇𝑜𝑡𝑎𝑙 𝑛𝑢𝑚𝑏𝑒𝑟 𝑜𝑓 𝑝𝑜𝑠𝑠𝑖𝑏𝑙𝑒 𝑜𝑢𝑡𝑐𝑜𝑚𝑒𝑠
6
Probability = 13

Likelihood = less likely

19) Out of 400 students in a school, 80 play only cricket, 240 play only football, 80 play only volleyball.
If one student is chosen at random, find the probability that:

(i) He plays either football or cricket

No of students = 400
No of football players = 240
No of volleyball players = 80
No of cricket players = 80
Number of students plays either football or cricket = 240 +80 = 320

Probability = 𝑇𝑜𝑡𝑎𝑙 𝑛𝑢𝑚𝑏𝑒𝑟 𝑜𝑓 𝑝𝑜𝑠𝑠𝑖𝑏𝑙𝑒 𝑜𝑢𝑡𝑐𝑜𝑚𝑒𝑠
320 4
Probability that the students plays either football or cricket = =5
400

20 In an archery match, a woman shot target 8 times out of 40 times she shot. Find the probability that she
did not shoot the target?
Number of times women shot a target is 8 times
Number of times women did not shoot = 40 – 8
Number of times women did not shoot = 32
𝑁𝑢𝑚𝑏𝑒𝑟 𝑜𝑓 𝑓𝑎𝑣𝑜𝑟𝑎𝑏𝑙𝑒 𝑜𝑢𝑡𝑐𝑜𝑚𝑒𝑠
Probability = 𝑇𝑜𝑡𝑎𝑙 𝑛𝑢𝑚𝑏𝑒𝑟 𝑜𝑓 𝑝𝑜𝑠𝑠𝑖𝑏𝑙𝑒 𝑜𝑢𝑡𝑐𝑜𝑚𝑒𝑠

Number of girls in class = 25 – 15

Number of girls in class = 10
𝑁𝑢𝑚𝑏𝑒𝑟 𝑜𝑓 𝑓𝑎𝑣𝑜𝑟𝑎𝑏𝑙𝑒 𝑜𝑢𝑡𝑐𝑜𝑚𝑒𝑠
Probability = 𝑇𝑜𝑡𝑎𝑙 𝑛𝑢𝑚𝑏𝑒𝑟 𝑜𝑓 𝑝𝑜𝑠𝑠𝑖𝑏𝑙𝑒 𝑜𝑢𝑡𝑐𝑜𝑚𝑒𝑠
10
Probability = 25

The probability of selecting a girl is less likely

Section-I
Solve the following question
22) A box contains 20 cards numbered 1 to 20. One card is drawn at random from the box. What is the probability
that it gets a

i. An even number
ii. A two-digit number
i) Number of even numbers from 1 to 20 = 10
𝑁𝑢𝑚𝑏𝑒𝑟 𝑜𝑓 𝑓𝑎𝑣𝑜𝑟𝑎𝑏𝑙𝑒 𝑜𝑢𝑡𝑐𝑜𝑚𝑒𝑠
Probability = 𝑇𝑜𝑡𝑎𝑙 𝑛𝑢𝑚𝑏𝑒𝑟 𝑜𝑓 𝑝𝑜𝑠𝑠𝑖𝑏𝑙𝑒 𝑜𝑢𝑡𝑐𝑜𝑚𝑒𝑠
