MAHARAJA AGRASEN INSTITUTE OF
MANAGEMENT STUDIES

MAIMS was established in 2003 by Maharaja Agrasen Technical Education


Society. The Institute has attained a distinct position in running BBA, B.Com(H),
BA (H) Eco., BA JMC, BA LL.B (Integrated), and BBA LL.B (Integrated), LLM [IPR
(2022), Corporate Law and ADR (2023)] programmes affiliated with Guru Gobind
Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi. We collaborate and maintain excellent
relationships with industry and leading corporate houses for training and
internship opportunities. This gives our students an edge over others, which is
reflected in our year after year high placement rates. Maharaja Agrasen Institute
of Management Studies was accredited with highest grade of A++ from National
Assessment and Accreditation Council under the guidance of Dr. Nand Kishore
Garg, Founder & Chief Advisor, MATES and Prof. (Dr.) Rajni Malhotra Dhingra
[Director, MAIMS]. At MAIMS, we inspire dreams, galvanise actions, and define

ABOUT
DEPARTMENT OF LAW

The Department of Law was established in 2017 by introducing a five-year


integrated BA LL.B degree program. Established as a unit of the Maharaja Agrasen
Institute of Management Studies, the Department of Law aims to provide quality
education with a professional approach to the budding legal professionals. The
year 2020 has added another feather to its cap with the introduction of the five-
year integrated BBA LL.B program. In the year 2022 LLM program has also been
introduced. Entry to the five-year course is through the rankings of the CLAT
(Common Law Aptitude Test). The Department is equipped with requisite
facilities like Moot Court Room, Legal Services Clinic, ADR Cell, IPR Cell and
Maims Probono Club in affiliation with Ministry of Law & Justice. It has a mix of
senior seasoned faculty as well as young and dynamic faculty.

ABOUT
MAIMS 3rd NATIONAL MOCK TRIAL COMPETITION
MAIMS 3rd National Mock Trial Competition, 2024, aims to provide a platform for
students across India to showcase and nurture their research skills by competing in
a professional and challenging environment. The 3rd National Mock Trial
Competition with its theme - 'Kidnapping of a child by it's own parent' aims to
provide awareness towards this critical issue and to furnish and accomodate
different arguments towards the essential concern of wellbeing of the Child in the
social, physical, educational, psychological and economic perspective. . Following
the tradition of 1st National Mock Trial Competition Theme i.e. Pocso Act and 2nd
National Mock Trial Competition Theme i.e. Male Victimisation, through this, the
competition encourages the participants to make the best use of their mind on
topics that are still evolving in the field of law and take effective learnings from that.

ABOUT MAIMS 2nd NATIONAL MOCK
TRIAL COMPETITION
Department of Law, Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Management Studies
organized the MAIMS 2nd National Mock Trial Competition, 2023 in hybrid
mode starting from 17th August, 2023 to 2nd September, 2023. The inaugural
ceremony was held on 17th August, The semi-final round and the final round
were held in offline mode on 2nd September 2023.

The Inaugural Ceremony was graced by the presence of Hon’ble Justice Talwant
Singh, Dr. Nand Kishor Garg, Founder Chairman, MATES, and Prof. (Dr.) Rajni
Malhotra Dhingra, Director, MAIMS. Dr. Nand Kishore Garg, while addressing
the gathering brought attention to the main theme of the mock proposition
which is mental health, office bullying, and male victimization.

The valedictory Ceremony was graced with the presence Hon’ble Justice Neena
Bansal Krishna, Judge, Delhi High Court and Hon’ble Justice Manoj Jain, Judge,
Delhi High Court along with Dr. Nand Kishor Garg, Founder Chairman, MATES,
Sh. Mohan Garg, Joint Secretary, MATES, Sh. T.R. Garg, General Secretary,
MATES, Prof. (Dr.) Rajni Malhotra Dhingra, Director, MAIMS.

The winning team from Law Centre II, Faculty of Law, Delhi University was
awarded a cash prize worth Rs. 41,000 while the runners-up team from Thakur
Ramnarayan College of Law, Mumbai was awarded a cash prize worth Rs.
25,000. The prestigious award of Best Speaker was presented to Aishwarya
Pandit, Thakur Ramnarayan College of Law, Mumbai, the Best Memorial Award
was presented to Samiksha Jain, Kavisha Arora and Rabiya Khatun, Asian Law
College, the Best Researcher award was presented to Mansi, Vivekananda
Institute of Management Studies, and the Best Witness award was bagged by
Aashish Chanana from MAIMS. Each of them was awarded with a cash prize
worth Rs. 5,000.

ABOUT MAIMS 1st NATIONAL MOCK
TRIAL COMPETITION
The Department of Law, Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Management
Studies, Delhi organized its 1st National Mock Trial Competition, 2022
in the hybrid mode. The Inaugural Ceremony was conducted online
and was graced by Hon’ble Mr. Justice Talwant Singh, Delhi High
Court and Hon’ble Ms. Justice Tara Vitasta Ganju, Delhi High Court.

The National Mock Trial Competition, 2022 began on 2nd September


2022. On 17th September, the semi-final and final rounds were
conducted in the offline manner at the campus of MAIMS.

The 1st MAIMS National Mock Trial Competition, 2022 was presided
over by a bench of judges and saw participation from Campus Law
Centre, Faculty of Law, Delhi University and Christ University,
Bangalore among the many other participants. The Valedictory
Ceremony was graced by Hon'ble Mr. Justice Rajiv Shakdher,Delhi
High Court, Hon'ble Ms. Justice Jyoti Singh,Delhi High Court.

The results were announced, with Campus Law Centre, Delhi


University as the winner with a cash prize of Rs. 40,000, Christ
University, Bangalore as the Runner with a cash prize of Rs. 25,000,
and other awards in other categories. The programme ended with the
National Anthem.

COMPETITION GUIDELINES

CHAPTER - I: GENERAL RULES FOR THE COMPETITION

A. DATE & VENUE

The ‘MAIMS 3rd National Mock Trial Competition, 2024’ will be held
from 14th October 2024 to 16th October 2024 and 25th October &
26th October. This event shall be conducted in Hybrid Mode for
which the below- mentioned segregation shall be followed:
Online Rounds:
- Preliminary Rounds I & II; and
- Quarter-Final Round.
Offline Rounds:
- Semi-Final Round; and
- Final Round.
NOTE: Accommodation shall be provided to the qualifying teams
for the Offline rounds [ Subject to Covid Proticols ]

B. TEAM ELIGIBILITY & COMPOSITION

The competition is open for students who are pursuing LL.B three-
year/five-year course during the current academic year.
Only one team is permitted to participate from each participating
Institution/University.
Each team shall consist of three members. However, with the prior
permission of the organisers, a two-member team shall also be
eligible to participate.
A team shall require minimum of two Speakers as a mandatory
prerequisite. A three and/or two member team shall include one
separate or either Speaker, as the Researcher respectively.
Each team would be provided with two Witnesses, 45 minutes
prior to the Rounds.

COMPETITION GUIDELINES

C. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR WITNESSES REGISTRATION

Students pursuing any degree course from any Institute


established in Delhi / Delhi NCR can participate .

The Registration fees will be ₹700 /- [ Rupees Seven Hundred Only. ]

D. REGISTRATION PROCEDURE

All the participating teams must confirm their participation by


filling out the attached Registration Form.
As per the rules, each team shall be allotted a Unique Team
Code for the competition upon completing the
Registration. Each team must use the Team Code for any
further communication with the organizers during the
course of the competition.
The identity of the teams shall not be disclosed at any stage,
such disclosure shall result in penalties including
disqualification. The decision for the same shall be at the
discretion of the Organizers.
Any change in the team composition must be intimated to
the organizers at the earliest through an Email at
[email protected]. Such change must be accompanied
by filling a new Registration Form.
The participating teams are required to pay Rs. 5000/- as
Registration Fees.
However, an Early Bird Discount is being offered and the
teams availing the offer will be paying Rs. 4500/- on or before
15th May 2024 [23:59 IST].
The Last Date for Payment of Registration Fee is 30th June,
[202423:59 IST]; [Refer Chapter - V].

CHAPTER - II: STRUCTURE OF THE COMPETITION

A. PRELIMINARY ROUNDS I & II

The Preliminary Rounds shall be held on 15th October 2024.


It shall be conducted in Online Mode.
All the teams shall compete twice in the Preliminary Rounds
[Preliminary Rounds I & II].
After completion of the respective rounds, the best eight teams
shall qualify for the Quarter-Final Round.

B. QUARTER - FINAL ROUND

The Quarter-Final Round shall be held on 16th October 2024.


It shall be conducted in Online Mode.
After completion of the respective round, the top four teams shall
qualify for the Semi-Final Round.

C. SEMI - FINAL ROUND

The Semi-Final Round shall be held on 25th October 2024.


It shall be conducted in the Offline Mode.
After completion of the respective round, the top two teams shall
qualify for the Final Round.

D. FINAL ROUND

The qualified teams shall compete in the Final Round which shall
be held on 25th October 2024.
This round shall be conducted in the Offline Mode.
After completion of the respective round, the team with the highest
score shall win the competition.

E. RESEARCHER'S TEST

The Researcher's Test shall be held in Online Mode on 15th


October 2024 via submissions made towards a priorly shared
Google Form.
It shall comprise both subjective and objective questions.
The test shall be of a maximum of 100 marks.
Qualifying marks shall be 50.
Participants scoring less than 50 marks shall not qualify.
The organizers shall have the discretionary right to not award
the "Best Researcher" title to any team if none of the teams
score the minimum marks.
Syllabus for researcher’s test will be IPC , CRPC , The Indian
Evidence Act. The new laws will be applicable from 1st July,
2024 but our mock proposition is based till March ,2024 , so
the old laws will be applicable.
