GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
i. Question paper comprises Six Sections – A, B, C, D, E and F. There are 38 questions in the
question paper. All questions are compulsory.
ii. Section A – From question 1 to 20 are MCQs of 1 mark each.
iii. Section B – Question no. 21 to 24 are Very Short Answer Type Questions, carrying 2
marks each. Answers to each question should not exceed 40 words.
iv. Section C contains Q.25to Q.29 are Short Answer Type Questions, carrying 3 marks each.
Answers to each question should not exceed 60 words.
v. Section D – Question no. 30 to 33 are long answer type questions, carrying 5 marks each.
Answers to each question should not exceed 120 words.
vi. Section-E - Questions no from 34 to 36 are case based questions with three sub questions and
are of 4 marks each.
vii. Section F – Question no. 37 & 38 are map based, carrying 5 marks, 37 from
History (2 marks) and 38 from Geography (3 marks).
viii. There is no overall choice in the question paper. However, an internal choice has been
provided in a few questions. Only one of the choices in such questions have to be attempted.
ix. In addition to this, separate instructions are given with each section and question,
wherever necessary.

34.Read the extract given below and answer the questions that follows:
In his famous book Hind Swaraj (1909) Mahatma Gandhi declared that British rule was established in India
with the cooperation of Indians, and had survived only because of this cooperation. If Indians refused to
cooperate, British rule in India would collapse within a year, and swaraj would come. How could
non-cooperation become a movement? Gandhiji proposed that the movement should unfold in stages. It should
begin with the surrender of titles that the government awarded, and a boycott of civil services, army, police,
courts and legislative councils, schools, and foreign goods. Then, in case the government used repression, a full
civil disobedience campaign would be launched. Through the summer of 1920 Mahatma Gandhi and Shaukat
Ali toured extensively, mobilizing popular support for the movement.

Energy resources can be classified as conventional and nonconventional sources. Conventional sources

Non-conventional sources include solar, wind, tidal, geothermal, biogas and atomic energy. Energy is a basic

naturally occurring substance with a definable internal structure.” Minerals are found in varied forms in

Loans from Cooperatives
Besides banks, the other major source of cheap credit in rural areas are the cooperative societies (or
cooperatives). Members of a cooperative pool their resources for cooperation in certain areas. There are
several types of cooperatives possible such as farmers cooperatives, weavers cooperatives, industrial workers
cooperatives, etc. Krishak Cooperative functions in a village not very far away from Sonpur. It has 2300
farmers as members. It accepts deposits from its members. With these deposits as collateral, the Cooperative
has obtained a large loan from the bank. These funds are used to provide loans to members. Once these loans
are repaid, another round of lending can take place. Krishak Cooperative provides loans for the purchase of
agricultural implements, loans for cultivation and agricultural trade, fishery loans, loans for construction of
houses and for a variety of other expenses.
