II SUMILLA

The Microbiology Subject corresponds to the basic area in the training of the Medical Professional, having both a theoretical and practical component. The

objective pursued is to provide the student with the formation of general and specific concepts in morphology, physiology and genetics of bacteria, viruses

and fungi; with the consequent study of its ecology and implications of microorganisms in human pathologies; Likewise, as a result of the practical

sessions, the development of certain abilities or skills in microbiological procedures is intended. The subject is divided into four academic units:

I Unit: Microorganisms and Principles of Bacteriology.

II Unit: Antimicrobials and Special Bacteriology

III Unit: Special Bacteriology and Mycology

IV Unit: Virology.

V METHODOLOGICAL STRATEGIES

This subject will be developed based on:


• Search and organization of information.

• Presentations, articles and others online.

• Didactic exhibition: Online conferences, videos.

• Online tutoring: platform tools, messaging, chat, video conferencing, others.

• Student presentations: Multimedia presentations, videos, others.

• Teamwork.

• Problem-based learning.

Videoconference slides (PPT) in different formats.

Texts or other resources (e-books, magazines, articles, web pages, video class) that are necessary for the development of your class.

SPECIFIC CONSIDERATIONS:

Theoretical/practical class sessions:

The student must have done previous readings of the thematic content before starting each class session.

In the practical sessions, students will be grouped in a number of 10 to 15 students per teacher.

Assignment of one teacher per practice session, at each work table.

THEORETICAL SESSION : The objective is to provide the student with the conceptual theoretical framework of the topic to be

developed according to the syllabic plan, and due to the dynamic nature of the subject it will be dialogued, with the active participation

of the teacher and the students. To do this, the student must previously read or view the topic to be discussed in order to be familiar

with the development of the class. This will start at the EXACT TIME and the syllable must always be carried to carry out the

respective follow-up. In the event that the theoretical class is not taught on the scheduled date, it will be rescheduled.

DIRECTED PRACTICE : Corresponds to the reinforcement and development of procedural skills of the theoretical information given

in the classroom and will be face-to-face. For this, the student will have a technological platform for the practical approach. Students

will be under the permanent attention of a teacher in person for each of these groups. Likewise; These sessions will be held

according to the syllabic schedule and at the EXACT TIME .

SEMINARS : These are presentations given by students on specific topics of interest for their professional training. These holds will

be carried out randomly during the practical session. The teachers responsible for the practice will act as inductors, guides and

integrators of this activity.

DIDACTIC PROCEDURES TO FOLLOW: In order to meet the objectives indicated above, the Expository - Interrogative Method will

be followed in the lectures, while in Practice the Demonstrative method will be followed virtually. RESEARCH: Students, for each

practice group, will make a proposal for a Virtual Event on a topic of interest, which must conclude with a public exhibition, or

alternatively with a publication at the end of the semester.

SUBSTITUTE EXAM
According to the current academic directive; Section 5.18, in section a) states that the student who fails a subject or wishes to

improve his or her promotional average has the right to take a substitute exam, whose grade replaces that of the partial exam or

the final exam, which best suits him/her. favors in the calculation of the promotional average of the subject, in the respective

academic period. The student who takes the substitute exam cannot request its cancellation. Likewise, in section b) it states that

the topic for the substitute exam corresponds to the entire subject. The student has the right to take a substitute exam if his or her

grade is greater than or equal to seven (07) and make the respective fee payments.
CLASS ATTENDANCE: Students with more than 30% absences from class will be disqualified by the system in the subject.

OTHERS:

• The student who misses any evaluation will have a zero grade . Absence (maximum of 2 days after the absence) to an

evaluation is justified to be taken only by authorization of the School Director.

• There are no make-up exams.
