Are you all done?
You may now take your seats.
So class how are you all today?
Did you all eat your breakfast before going to school?
That's good to know! Because eating breakfast before -Yes
going to school will help you to be... (Pupils will seat)
That's right!
4. Energizer -were good!
Let us all stand up and boost more our energy through the
-Yes sir!
video that I have prepared. We are going to sing and dance
the song entitled "I love MATH"
(After the video)
-Alive, alert, awake, and enthusiastic.
Did you enjoyed it?
Good to hear that! So from that song, what do you think is
Math?
(Pupils will stand up and sing and
Exactly! So we shouldn't fear and hate the subject
dance the song 'I love MATH)
mathematics. Because mathematics is a subject that is
exciting and interesting where we will learn a lot of things
and have some fun. Understand?
-Yes!
5. Checking of Attendance
Class, is there any absentee today? -It is exciting and interesting.
Great! It's good that all of you are present.
"Attend today, achieve tomorrow!"
Because of that, let's give ourselves a 'good job clap.'
6. Presenting of Classroom Rules
Before we proceed to our discussion, let us all recall and be -Yes!
reminded of our classroom rules that all of you should
follow:
1. Sit properly
2. Don't talk with your seatmates. -None sir! We re complete
3. Remove all unnecessary things on your table and put
them in your bag.
4. Listen and participate in the discussion; and
5. Raise your right hand if you want to answer or ask
questions and clarifications. (Will do the good job clap)

Understand?
Also, I have here a pieces of coupons. I will give you 1 of it
whenever you answered my question correctly or you
participated in our discussion and activities.
Whoever got a total of 3 coupons at the end of the lesson,
he/she can redeem it to me. You can choose to have a plus
points in the quiz, in the recitation, or have a special
reward from me.
Get it?
7. Reviewing of the previous lesson
Class, before we proceed to our new lesson, let us first
have a short review of our previous lesson. Can you still
remember it?
What is it all about again?
Excellent! -Yes!
Now, let's answer this problem.
8.

-Yes!

-Yes!

-Solving routine and non-routine

problems involving addition of whole
numbers.

B. Motivation

Class do you know the song 'Chikading'? -Yes!

Great! Because we will sing that song. Are you ready?
-Yes!

Chikading Chikading palipad lipad 2×

May 5 na chikading ang dumapo sa Sanga
Lumipad ang Isa, 4 nalang sila...
Chikading Chikading palipad lipad 2×
May 4 na chikading ang dumapo sa Sanga
Lumipad ang Isa, 3 nalang sila...

C. Presentation

Did you enjoyed the Chikading song? -Yes!

Good to hear that!

The following questions will be asked:

1. What is the tittle of the song?
2. What happened to the Chikading?
3. What do we do whenever a chikading flies?
4. What do you think is the mathematical operation we
used whenever a chikading flies?
Very good!
During your previous grade, or when you are in grade 2,
you have learned how to subtract 2 to 3 digit.
And this year, we will continue our study about that. This
time we will level up. Because our lesson for today is...
Every body read.

-Yes!
Thank you.
So, Do you have an idea what is subtraction?

Subtracting 3 to 4 digit numbers

from 3 to 4 digit numbers without
and with regrouping.
D. Discussion

(Bird flying and chirping in the monitor)

What's that? -A bird

Where is it? -In the monitor.

Ohhh that's right. Let me get it class.

The bird have a message to us. Let's read it.

(The message will flash in the screen)

Minuend
Subtrahend
Difference
Class, can you still remember these words?
Ok, it's alright if you forgot. Because we will review and
tackle it again later on. But before that, let us first know Yes/No

the definition of subtraction.

Every body read
Subtraction- is the process of taking away a smaller
number from a bigger number.
So for example, earlier we've sing the song Chikading. And
the total number of Chikading resting in the branch of tree
is 5. And then suddenly, 1 Chikading flies away.
So, which in the two is the smaller number and which one
is the bigger?
Very good!
So the 5 Chikading is our bigger number. And the 1
Chikading that flies is our smaller number.
Now, based on the definition of subtraction, we will take
-Smaller 1, bigger 5
away a smaller number from a bigger number.
So let's write the given number in a subtraction sentence
or vertically.
5-1
So 5 minus 1 is equal to... 4
Now, do you know what do we call these parts of a
subtraction sentence?
Ok. Listen carefully.
The number above is what we call the Minuend.
 Minuend- It is the number to be subtracted.
Again what is minuend?
Very good!
Next is the number below it. We call it the subtrahend.
 Subtrahend- it is the number where to subtract
Again what is Subtrahend?
The number to subtract from the minuend.
Excellent!
Now this sign (-) is what we call the minus sign.
 Minus Sign (-)- it tells us that we are subtracting the
numbers.
And lastly, our answer after subtracting the minuend to the
subtrahend is what we call the Difference.
 Difference- the answer that we get after subtracting.
Again what is Difference?
Very good!

(Knocking door)
Do you hear that?
What's that?
Ohhh that's right. Let me open it.
(A girl will show in the screen)
Girl: Grade 3 rose I need your help. Can you help me?
Do you want to help her class?
Great! So what can we help Ella?
(The message will flash in the screen)
I baked 525 cookies today, and I sold the 314 cookies. Now,
I don't know how many cookies are left. Pls help me...
________________________________________________
_
So class, in this problem, what do you think is our minuend
and our subtrahend?
That's right! Our minuend is the bigger number or the 525,
and our subtrahend is the smaller number or the 314.
Now class, in Subtracting 3 to 4 digit numbers from 3 to 4
digit numbers without and with regrouping. We have to
follow 3 simple steps.
However, they are locked. Can you find the keys under
-Yes
your arm chairs.
1. Arrange the numbers vertically. Make sure the digits in -Someones knocking the door
ones, tens, hundreds and thousands are aligned.
2. Begin subtraction in the range of ones, tens, hundreds
and thousands.
3. Do the regrouping if the numbers in the subtrahend
are higher than the numbers in the minuend.
Identify appropriate methods of subtracting 3- to 4-digit
numbers with and without grouping. -Yes
Subtracts numbers with 3 to 4 digits with and without
grouping.
Shows appreciation for following steps.

So, the number of cookies left is 211.

Girl: Thank you very much grade 3 Rose!
What will you say class?

(Someone will knock the door again)

Someone's knocking again. Let me open the door.
(The boy will show)
Boy: Hello grade 3 rose!
Boy: Can you help me?
Boy: My mom gave me 2,582 pesos to buy a new bag. The
price of bag that I want to buy is 1,455. Now, I don't know
how much money will be left to me. Can you help me solve
How much money will be left to me?

(Knocking door) (Will look for keys under their chair)

Someone's knocking again. Should we open it

Your wish is my command! (Open the door)
(Teacher Shane will pop up)
Hello grade 3 rose!
I also need your help. Can you help me?
Thank you!
So I have here a list of things I want you to buy.
(Will show the list)
I will give you a 2,599 to buy them all. And give to me the
change. Is that ok?

Ok class, get your white board and let us one by one

subtract all of this in our budget money.

Now class, our change is 20 pesos. Let's tell it to teacher

Shane.
-Your welcome!
T.Shane: since you help me buy all of this things, you may
now use the remaining money to buy some candies.
-Hi!

-Sure

-Yes!

-yes!

-Hello teacher Shane!

-Sure

-Yes!

Now class, do you want to play a game again?

Great. Let's play a game. But before that I will group you first into 4
groups.

We will play a game. Do you know how to play BINGO?

Players must solve the math problem and mark a space on their card
corresponding to the answer. Once a player completes a row or column
and claims bingo, the caller checks the math to make sure their answers
are correct. If so, they are declared the winner.

Great! But this time, our BINGO have a twist because you will need to
solve a problem first and put an X through the number that represents the
answer if it appears on your Subtraction BINGO card.

And it is called subtraction BINGO!

Do you know how to play BINGO?

Great
