KEY CLUB

Key Club
STATE OF THE UNION
One last look at the past
Key Club Members, Unfortunately, this will be my very last letter to you as your club President. This year has definitely been a memorable one. I enjoyed leading your meetings, serving the community with you, and embarrassing myself in front of you by doing the "How do you feel?" cheer. I can boldly say that, through Key Club, I have grown considerably as a leader and as a person. Although there are a lot of things that I could have done better, it is safe for me to say that I did accomplish my primary goal that I set a year ago when I first became president: to establish Key Club as a legitimate club on campus and gain recognition from the entire school. Now, almost everyone on campus knows what Key Club is--I am very proud of that. To those that will return next year as members, I encourage you to maintain an active membership in this wonderful organization. I know that you will do great things next year. It is a privilege to have been your President. In Service, Jacob Kim

and the first of many toward the future.

Its finally time to hand off the baton.

Really, just who are your leaders?

Los PRESIDENTES!
Left: Replacing President Jacob Kim (12) is President-Elect David Kim (13). Both are seen practicing for the official inauguration ceremony, which will take place after spring break. Hopefully, they wont be goofing off then! Question for Jacob and David: Lets start with how long youve been in Key Club. Jacob: Three proud, long years. David: Two years and counting! Question for J and D: And what do you think has enabled you to embrace your positions as presidentsay, three traits? Jacob: Definitely charisma, humour, and passion. I think all three are necessary for effective leadership. David: Like Jacob, Id say charisma and humour, and also my outgoing personality. Key Club requires reaching out, you know? Question for J and D: I completely agree! So, what is the event that allowed you to demonstrate said qualities? Jacob: Leading every Division 3 member during the spirit rally at Six Flagsit was exhilarating, and I think it served as a testament to my leadership. David: Going to RTC with Jacob taught me some valuable lessons in presidential leadership, and I also got to spend the day alongside one. Question for J: Insightful comments! Now, Ive gathered the two most popular questions that your members wanted to ask you. The first is, Porsche or Ferrari? Jacob: Porsche, for sure! Question for J: Nice choice; I think Im with you on that one. The second most popular question was, Would you rather spend a day with Channel One anchorwoman Jessica Kumari or baseball giant Clayton Kershaw? Jacob: Um why cant I have both?! I wont choose. I refuse to pick sides! Question for D: All right, since this is your last term as president, well let you get away with that. Now, David, time for you to be in the hot seat. David: All right! Question for D: [laughs] Okay, well, a kiss on the cheek from Emma Watson or $5,000? David: A KISS ON THE CHEEK!!! [fans himself] Honestly, Id pick a handshake from Emma over $5,000 any day! Question for J and D: Hah, I can talk to the manager about getting this interview published in the UK. No promises, though. David: [blushes] Question for D: Okay, lets say she agrees to a date with youto a famous bacon restaurant. She needs to freshen up in the ladies room, so she asks you to surprise her. Would you order floppy bacon or crispy bacon? David: Crispy, of course! Thats the way of the gentleman, if you ask me. Im sure she would agree. [waves to videocamera] Question for J and D: All right, this wraps up our interview of the Key Club presidents for the evening. Thank you both for your time. Jacob, best wishes at Harvard, and David, Godspeed to you! [turns to audience] Stay tuned for the credits; I hear Jacob and David have answered several questions about their interests and such. [winks] Jacob: Thanks! David: Bye, thanks for having us! 3

A Day in the Life of

Ex-Secretary Chyna Cotangco

S E C R E T A R I E S are expected to be tidy, organised, and one step ahead of everyone else. Does Chyna fit these criteria? Lets see!

1. Write that report on Fall Rally for English class. It was definitely my favourite Key Club experience, so it should be a breeze to get done 2. Finish The Hunger Games series so that I can watch the movie with the volleyball girls!!! 3. Burn a CD for the new Secretary-elect, Nika. I think shed like Rihanna, Drake, Jason Mraz, Michael Bubl, and One Direction! Lets hope she does. 4. Rent Bridesmaids to watch at the sleepover this weekend. 5. Log off Facebook before I do homework. Its terribly distracting 6. Write Mom and Dad a card to tell them how much I love them. They deserve it, dont they? Also, dont forget to call up the cousins. 7. Select Biology or Kinesiology on the college registration form soon; theyre pretty popular majors. 8. Select Physical Therapist or Sports Medicine Doctor as my likely career choices. 9. Buy that USC sweatshirt from the store! Only one left!

10. Book a flight for the Philippines, like, ASAP. 11. Dont ever eat chicken feet again. Dont wanna go through another bout of indigestion! 12. Check out the basketball team on the college website. 13. As always, laugh at Jacobs jokes, even if theyre not funny!
