From the Chair

Welcome All The season is here, and over the months ahead, on behalf of the committee, we hope all parents and players enjoy the sport of soccer. For the coming season we have retained all members of last years committee and have some new committee members. Our members are excited to be on the committee and are really looking forward to the new season. I would like to point out that one area our club is very committed to is the behaviour of players and their parents towards referees, linesmen and club officials. Poor behaviour by parents or players, under any circumstances, will not be tolerated. Soon to be distributed you will find in the EDJSA (Elizabeth and Districts Junior Soccer Association) information booklet, the EDJSA Code of Conduct, which describes behaviour that is considered unacceptable. Although, especially in the older age groups, our teams at One Tree Hill Soccer Club aim to be competitive, the primary objective of our coaches is to teach our players soccer skills and how to become a team player in a fun and enjoyable way. 2011 presented a successful year with registrations up and a profit for the year. We fielded 6 teams last year including U/6, U/7, U/8, U/9, U/10 and Seniors, the first time we had Seniors. 2012 is off to a fantastic start. Registrations are up by about 60%, with sides being fielded in U/6, U/8, (both with 2 sides) U/9, U/10, U/12, U/17s with the Seniors fielding 2 sides. We have been fortunate enough to secure some very supportive sponsors again this year, These sponsorships are going towards providing us with balls, training aids and keeping our fees as low as we can. Like most sporting clubs, our committee consists of dedicated volunteers, a lot of time and effort is involved in keeping the soccer alive in One Tree Hill, and we would most welcome volunteers to help us keep the game here in One Tree Hill. On one final note OTHSC will be hosting the One Tree Hill Family Fun Day on our Oval on Anzac Day, this event will have a bouncy castle, fun races and the One Tree Hill Gift being run since the first time since 1989. Please support this event and any help with the canteen and fundraising that day will be really appreciated.

Fundraising
Raising funds for the continued operation of the club is high on the committees agenda for this year. We have a Fund Raising subcommittee that is in need of your ideas and assistance. If you have any suggestions, do not hesitate to put them forward. We have started off with 3 fundraising efforts this year already, please support these following initiatives. Entertainment Book: Approximately $15,000 in savings per book. For $65 is great value. Every book sold $13 comes back to OTHSC. Peoples Choice Credit Union Community Lottery: All money raised from this comes directly back to the club. Cancer Council Sunscreen is available from the fundraising committee or the canteen. Proceeds go directly back to the club.

Canteen
Our canteen is a main fundraiser. This year Narelle will take over the reins to ensure we continue the great tradition. We still have a great reputation for our egg and bacon rolls. Volunteers in the canteen will be given clear directions and guidelines on how to handle your enquiries. We again need your support to staff the canteen on a roster basis. Please see your Team Manager who will arrange.

Business Corner
