What is Petrophysics?

Petrophysics or rock physics was a term
coined by the famous Shell engineer Gus
Archie in the 1950s to describe the
process of interpreting rocks drilled
in a borehole.

Also referred to as formation evaluation or
log analysis

What Does a Petrophysicist Do?
Designs and supervises data acquisition
and interprets well data to identify and
quantify oil and gas in the wells

and fluid contents
