Childhood
Jackie Chan was born to a poversh family.
He cared immensely about grades & education
Born in Hong Kong, he weighed 12 pounds, and
was nicknamed Paopao, meaning cannonball.

His father, Charles Chan, was a cook for the French
Ambassador.
His mother, Lee Lee Chan, was the housekeeper for
that same ambassador.

He attended the Nan-Hwa ( ) Primary School.
But he wasnt doing very well in the school so he was sent to the
Peking Opera School
He noted that felt as if he was going into Disneyland when he
first entered the building.

He now speaks 7 languages, but is not able to read or write
efficiently so he has others write his scripts for him
After a while, he realized that the school had kids practice
music, acrobatics, and martial arts for at least 18 hours in one
day.
They were also often beat especially for poor performance.

When he entered, his father went to work in the Chinese
embassy and after a few years, his mother left to join his
father in Australia.
Filming in China
After Bruce Lees death in 73, he was named as the likely
successor of Bruce Lee.
With that idea in mind, he worked in a plethora of kung fu
movies with Lo Wei.
Most of the movies turned out to be unsuccessful and the
partnership with Lo Wei ended by the late 70s.
Empire in China
He still gained more fame during the 1980s because he produced
more Kung Fu comedies such as Project A, Police Story,
and Armor of God.
By 1961, he wasnt just an actor, he was one-man film industry.
He had gotten a lot of practice from taking total control of the
films.
In America
In 95, he made his own comic book and his own character
called Jackie Chans Spartan X.
Also in 95, Quentin Tarantino presented Jackie Chan with
a Lifetime Achievement Award and threatened to
boycott the ceremony if Chan did not accept.
In 96 New Line Cinema and Golden Harvest jointly
released Rumble in the Bronx, his fifth English movie.

Chans first big hit in the United States was Rush Hour, in 1998,
which Chris Tucker.
In the movie, he plays a Chinese police officer who is partnered with
a street-smart LA cop, who is played by Chris Tucker.
After that, he starred the in movie called Shanghai Noon, which takes
places in the Old west and stars Owen Wilson as well as Lucy Liu

The next year, he teamed up with Tucker once again in order to make
Rush Hour 2, which earned $15 million.
In 2002, Chan starred with Jennifer Love Hewitt in the movie, the
Tuxedo, which is about a taxi driver who has special powers, only
when he puts on his bosss tux.
Also in 2002, he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and
received the Taurus Award for the best action movie star during the
World Stunt Award ceremony.

A few of his other recent films are Shanghai Knights, New
Police Story, the Myth, and The Spy Next Door, with Billy
Ray Cyrus.
In addition, with cooperation with Disney, he co-starred with
Steve Coogan in the movie called Around the World in 80
Days, as Passepartout.
Later in 2004, he pleased his original fanbase by remaking the
Police Story called New Police Story.

Recent News
His son was caught doing drugs and was sentenced to 6 months
in prison from a Beijing court.
Jaycee Chan, his son, pleaded guilty to hosting others to take
drugs and having more than 100 grams of marijuana in his
house and testing positive for having marijuana in his system.
He was also fined 2000 ($320 USD).
