MALE

REPRODUCTION
Physiology of Male Reproduction
Regulation of Reproductive Hormone secretion in Males:
1. Gn-RH from hypothalamus stimulates the secretion of
LH and FSH from anterior pituitary
2. LH stimulates the interstitial cells of the testes to secrete
testosterone, and FSH binds to the sertoli cells of the
seminiferous tubules and stimulates spermatogenesis
3. Testosterone has a stimulatory effect on the sex organs
and secondary sex characteristics, as well as on the sertoli
cells
4. Testosterone has a negative feed back effect on the
hypothalamus and pituitary gland to reduce LH and FSH
secretion
5. Inhibin has a negative feedback effects on FSH secretion.
