The Earths History
What does the Bible say about how the
Earth came to exist?

What does the secular world say?

The Earths History
Genesis 1 God created the universe and
everything in it!

How do we explain the apparent conflict in age

of the world?
Scientific evidence would say that its over 4 Billion
years old
The Bible tells us its between 6,000 and 15,000
years old
The Earths History
Remember, when God created the world,
He made a mature Earth.
Trees were already grown, hills and
mountains already existed, and animals
were already in their adulthood
Adam and Eve were created as adults, not
infants.
Creation
When God created the Earth, He made it so that
it was full of life and completely functional.
It wasnt barren and without life.

Uniformitarianism: people unwilling to

recognize the presence and existence of a
powerful Creator.
The Flood
According to the Bible, a huge flood
occurred that resulted in water covering
the entire surface of the planet.
Genesis 6:5-8
The Lord saw how great the wickedness of the
human race had become on the earth, and that every
inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was
only evil all the time. The Lord regretted that he had
made human beings on the earth, and his heart was
deeply troubled. So the Lord said, I will wipe from
the face of the earth the human race I have created
and with them the animals, the birds and the
creatures that move along the groundfor I regret that
I have made them. But Noah found favor in the eyes
of the Lord.
Humankind was becoming increasingly
corrupt and wicked; the Lord regretted
creating humans.
The Lord planned the flood to remove the
human race from the world.
But Noah was a godly man and God
decided to save people through preserving
Noah and his family.
Noahs Ark
God commanded Noah to build a boat
(ark) and save 2 of every animal in the
world so that life could continue after the
flood.

How long was Noah and his family on

the ark?
Impact of the Flood
The flood had devastating effects on
everything in the world.
Life of all sorts was gone humans, plants
and animals.
The landscape shifted as soil and rocks were
washed away and deposited in other areas.
Impacts of the Flood
The additional moisture in the air
superheated the atmosphere, creating
more clouds and humidity.
This would have blocked out the sun,
leading to the cooling of the atmosphere
and an eventual ice age.
Impacts of the Flood
The surface of the earth would have become softened,
which would lead to:
sedimentary layers as the flood waters receded
Rocks being folded and remolded
Tectonic plate shifts and continental drift

Eventually, the surface of the planet would re-harden to

what we see today.

This demonstrates how major events can
quickly and dramatically impact the
Earths surface.
