SOULMAKING

Christopher Allen S. Marquez

Social Sciences and Philosophy Department
School of Teacher Education and Humanities
What is it?
…art making, crafting images, crafting
identities, crafting ownership and crafting
culture.

…creation of stories and even transformation of

some moments into images and symbols.
Actual
process

perceiving Artist in
visualizing
a Person
I. CRAFTING IMAGES

instrument Cataloguing
…imaging in
playing of words
any form…
sculpting dancing
note taking storytelling
composing drawing
poetry painting
This artwork was made after I was
doing my activity in our class. I
challenged myself to draw using my
non-dominant hand which is my right
hand, rather than what is commonly
used. And the outcome of the state
of being uncomfortable in that
activity is what is shown in the
drawing, the image of a stressful
person. In life, when I am pushing
myself to reach something beyond my
capabilities or areas, I feel so much
frustrated and anxious to continue.
But I have to take risks, of time and
energy, just to make an outcome like
those when I use my dominant left
hand. -Anthony Ligue

Together
This was a poem written
differently now. It’s an
appreciation. I wrote this
when we were having the
drills in our PSEP class.
This was dedicated to a
dear friend whom I was
sitting beside with that
time. As I have been
staring at her, this comes
as my realization. She
happened to be a good
friend to me since College
had started.

Photographic Studies
I captured this image when
we were practicing for the
ground demonstration
because of boredom. I was
holding my phone and I
tried to capture every angle
that I can and used warm
filter on Snapseed editor to
add some details and make
this picture more beautiful.

Walking home, I noticed
this scenery which
caught my attention
and immediately took a
picture of it at around
4PM. A beautiful sunset.

ROAD SIGNS
Sudden turns through sharp curves, sudden signs in vision
as the car comes to pass. Each time I get the chance to get
home, I find travels to be sudden passes that allows one of
brief peeks. How I wish that I too can speed up and not
stay long at points in life when everything seems to be
unsurmountable. However, I realized that a car as well
slows down when it comes across rough roads. Maybe there
really are no shortcuts in life but surely there are signs
that gives us a hint of how we could handle things most
especially when we are clueless.
