Fast Radio Bearer Setup Trial Report - Final
Fast Radio Bearer Setup Trial Report - Final
- HMW051 -
Sector … RNO
Department … Southern Region Network Optimization
Date ... 7th/ December / 2016
Overview
This trail aim for enabling below cell level switch on one site HMW051 as study case.
When RBs are set up over the Uu interface after a UE initiates a service, the RNC uses fast reconfiguration mode based on NodeB
capabilities and the load status of the cell that the UE camps on. By using fast reconfiguration mode, the RNC, NodeB, and UE activate
corresponding link configurations at different time that differs from the time the new link configurations are activated over the Uu
interface
The Fast Radio Bearer Setup feature provides the following benefits:
Reduces the RAB setup delay by about 100 ms to 300 ms when a UE initiates a single service and downlink SRBs are carried
on the DCH
Reduces the RAB setup delay by about 100 ms to 500 ms when a UE initiates CS+PS combined services in which the CS
service is established after the PS service and downlink SRBs are carried on the DCH

- 200 ms
• After action, It can be seen that HSDPA Setup time is reduced remarkably by around 200ms as expected. This will enhance the
customer user experience
AMR Establishment Time
Implementation Implementation

• After action, the is slight improvement on CS service time setup around 100ms reduction. This due to very low CS traffic on site.
• We notice that on 26 November there remarkable increase of AMR RAB setup time. After investigation we found that delay is
increased on many sites of whole south network as due to TCN#161108172 done by Core team to change Radio Assignment
Procedure.

Introduction
Recommendations
We recommend to enable this feature on all non congested sites in south region.
It is highly recommended to be implemented on the sites where CSFB Based RIM is implemented to
MDT#161200312
(Fast CS Fallback Based on RIM)
