Business Objects
• Untraditionally WD uses a very powerful Object-Action model that drives navigation & reporting.
When you view a page in WD, most of the item are links and many of those has a related action
next to them. This makes WD’s reports & viewable pages actionable.
• WD stores data as an object, which is similar to database tables/excel spreadsheet. Objects
contains fields & instances. WD links related business objects together, e.g. Worker is connected to
Position & position is linked with Job profile & Job profile is associates with management level, etc.

familiarize with navigations tools, single & multi-select fields and standard screen icons.

Inbox
Your Inbox includes notifications of tasks, approvals, due dates, and
other items sent to you as part of your organization’s business
processes. You can access your Inbox using your desktop/web
browser or mobile device.

Navigate Using Search
WD makes it easier to search for people, task, reports & business data using the search field.
For example to find a worker, type their name in the search field, from the search results click People
to filter the results to only display workers in your organization. Search categories are used to filter
your search for faster, more accurate results. Keep in mind that searches find exact matches, you may
shorten the words to find more matches.
Search prefixes restrict the search results to a particular type of WD object. Search prefixes are
lowercase letters, followed by a colon (:). For example, “bp:” returns all business process definitions.

Workday’s applications run entirely in-memory, in a highly object-oriented structure. Persistence is
mainly for the sake of data safety; but not entirely. In earlier releases, Workday kept absolutely
