OGL 360 FINAL •ASSESSMENT OF

LEADERSHIP

PORTFOLIO •ARIZONA STATE

UNIVERSITY
I want to raise respectful and hard-
working children while
encouraging and supporting them,
both emotionally and mentally.

I want to be in a leadership
position in my organization
PART I: WHERE YOU helping provided for our
community.

WANT TO BE As a leader I want to engage in the

Five Practices of Exemplary
Leadership:
- Model the Way
- Inspire a Shared Vision
- Challenge the Process
- Enable Others to Act
- Encourage the Heart
I.1. WHAT LEADERSHIP
MEANS TO YOU
• My still life picture remains the same after completing the last 7
weeks of this course. The picture represents a mixture of who I am
and who I want to be as I look into the future. The family picture
represents my moral code and beliefs. The water represents clarity
and transparency of my vision as a leader. The textbooks are a
symbol that represent my desire to continue learning and growing
both personally and professionally. The box of paints represents
the flexibility that I provide and willingness to accept change and
also the creativity that I am continuing to work on. The notebook
represents how I stay organized and self-reflect. I feel this is
imperative if I want to be honest and truthful with myself and my
desire to continue my growth and development as I further my
career and build stronger and better relationships with my
children, husband, family, friends, co-workers, and mentors.
I.2.

My top five core values are: respect, accountability, integrity,

humility, and determination.
While there are many values that I find are important in my life,
the five core values selected are linked to the objects in my still
life in one way or another. These core values are not only part
of my morals and beliefs but also the human being and leader
that I am committing to being. I truly believe that I can be a
better person everyday if I follow my core values; living a life
respecting others and myself (the picture of my family),
accepting accountability for my actions and words (the box of
paints), leading others with integrity and living truthfully
(water), remaining humble at my highest (the notebook), and
continuing to pursue my goals and dreams with true
determination (the textbooks).
I.3. FUTURE The second part of my vision of
VISION the future is working in an
environment that allows me to
grow as a professional in my
organization and on a personal
level. The image on the bottom
right represents my desire to
continue this leadership path
The first part of my vision of the
with the organization that has
future is to successfully complete given me many professional
this semester while earning an A. opportunities to grow.
Additionally I would like to
strengthen my relationship with
my children and husband. Money
and material things are not what
my children will remember me by,
but they will remember how much
time I spent with them creating a
stronger bond and memories with
them.
PART II:
WHERE
YOU ARE
CURRENTLY, I AM WORKING ON
DEVELOPING MY INNER SELF AND
LEADERSHIP SKILLS, SEARCHING
FOR MY CALLING. I AM
DISCOVERING MYSELF DAILY AND
FOCUSING ON EDUCATING
MYSELF, LEARNING AND TAKING
ADVANTAGE OF THE MANY
OPPORTUNITIES' LIFE HAS TO
OFFER. I PRACTICE SELF-
REFLECTION AND REMAIN OPEN-
MINDED AS I ENDEAVOR INTO
AREAS OUTSIDE OF MY COMFORT
ZONE.
II.1. SOCIOGRAM

• Looking at my Sociogram from Module 2, I

am able to identify some strengths and also
weaknesses within my network.  Majority of
my network is made up of people that feel
comfortable with and who know me very well.
Red: Family I find that only a few within that network are
Green: Co-Workers ones that I communicate with daily.  I would
Blue: Friends
Bold: Maintained Frequently like to change this and perhaps connect and
Dots: Needs Reinforcement
collaborate more with others.
II.2. LEADERSHIP PRACTICES
INVENTORY ASSESSMENT
• Some of my leadership strengths are my ability and
willingness to take risks and to search for opportunities for
myself which I believe will help me become a better
leader.  After completing the LPI assignment I realized that
one of my strengths was facilitating relationships and
establishing a foundation of trust. Additionally, during the
LPI Assessment I discovered that my weaknesses as a
leader are motivating, inspiring and recognizing others for
their accomplishments. These weaknesses are ones that I
want to focus on as I continue to work on my growth and
development as a leader.
• My learning style type is “imagining”.  The “imagining” learning style is
characterized by the ability to imagine possibilities by observing and reflecting,
combining the learning steps of concrete experience and reflective observation
(Kolb).”

• I find that I am sensitive to people’s feelings, I have the ability to see things from
II.3. LEARNING many points of view, I learn best by stepping back to observe and reflect on my
experiences and feelings.  Despite thinking that I like situation to be black and

STYLE white, I have realized that I am open with ambiguity and that I do in fact see
situations from different angels especially at work. I do feel that I am caring,

INVENTORY
accepting, sensitive and open-minded.  Another area that is very true about my
learning style is my flexibility and how I adapt my learning style to the situations
I am in.  My approach and style when I am home is very different than when I am

ASSESSMENT at work; I feel that my style at work is more flexible than when I am home,
surprisingly at home I tend to me more rigid. I think that my learning style will
help me identify my own strengths and weakness and have the ability reflect and
adapt to the different processes along the way.  I believe that my learning style is
beneficial as a leader, as I have the ability to see possibilities and different
perspectives.  Some of the learning challenges are these are decision making and
taking leadership.
• My single biggest limiting assumption is my lack of
II.4. LIMITING experience in certain situations. Some of these assumptions

ASSUMPTIONS come from not having the opportunity to use my skills and
abilities in different situations that a leader works through.
Another assumption that I have is my own insecurity in
making the right choices, the tough choices, and not being
creative when wanting to motivate and inspire others. As a
person who always thinks of what is best for others, I
sometimes question myself and find it harder making tough
choices that affect others.

• The image below represents my ability to accept failure due

to my assumption and insecurities. Trusting myself and
understanding my own assumptions and weaknesses I can
and will achieve success!
III.5. WHAT MATTERS MOST TO YOU

• Family
• Personal Growth
• Career Success
PART III: GETTING FROM WHERE YOU
ARE TO WHERE YOU WANT TO BE

to be determined and practicing a forward- myself with people that
focused while seeking looking and open- will challenge my
new opportunities minded approach thoughts and those that
will support and
contribute to my
development
The coaching relationships in this class have helped shed
light on my abilities to build relationships and
connections with others tremendously. I was reminded of
the importance of fostering trust, respect, admiration and
confidence when building connections with others.
III.2. COACHING
RELATIONSHIP(S
)

I can continue to use coaching in my professional career

to further my growth professionally by participating in
coaching sessions with my peers.
My learning style and learning flexibility will
help me develop competencies and build
relationships because I am a good listener and I
approach situations by observing rather than
taking action.
III.3. LEARNING My ability to demonstrate sensitivity to people’s
STYLE AND feelings allows me to build positive relationship
with other creating an environment of trust and
FLEXIBILITY respect.

My ability to adapt to different situations

demonstrates my ability to change my approach
under different circumstances.

PART IV: OVERALL CONCLUSION
CONCLUSION

• Working on this portfolio has helped put all

the important things into perspective. It has
clearly laid out my vision and goals and
provides a guide for my future. I have learned
more about myself and what I have to offer in
this course that in any other courses I’ve
taken.
• One hindering force that I perceive is not
being able to achieve my vision and goals in
the time frame I’ve noted. I need to remain
determined and not let obstacles affect my
intentions and dreams.
